The answer is a question: what do you want? If you are looking for the gaming experience, perhaps you would choose continuity. Many role players would. That means leaving Sarevok.

If you are worried about Sarevok not being of the same level as the rest of the party, you can give him the XP of the character that he will replace (use CLUA).

However, you will find that Korgan has nearly reached the limit of his powers. This game really caps the progression of power, particularly with single class fighters. (Try it. Give Korgan a couple million more XP and see how little he will improve.) Sarevok may be a more effective fighter than Korgan by the end of TOB. Of course, Korgan will have more greater whirlwinds if you don't adjust the XP, but how many whirlwinds do you really need? Sarevok's death bringer assault is a neat and cheesy addition that makes him a clear choice of the NPC fighter-types when the XP is nearly the same (for power gaming).

    Welcome to the boards!

[IMG] deathbringer assault ROCKS!!! does 100/200 damage depending on the hp of the enemy on random occasions when you get a critical hit!!! if your going to get him for any reason, you ll get him for that.

Deathbringer Assault is an ability only known to Sarevok, as he's a Deathbringer. Duh!. Everytime he hit's someone/thing, there is a 5% chance he will use his Assault. It will instantly Kill anything (no save).
And regarding the Topic...take him. If you're playing evil. If not, then i'd suggest against it as it's not really roleplaying at all. But my favourite... Dual him to a thief or a Mage when you get him....poooweer gaaameeerr!!!

It's your choice really, but if you want him in the party, get rid of Anomen would be my advice.

I agree that Sarevok is a great fighter - without a doubt the best in the game. However, I disagree with Xander and I'd rather kick Keldorn than Anomen. Weird enough since I strongly favour Keldorn over Anomen :heh: I have some good reasons though ;)

    (a) You have only one pair of gauntlets oif dexterity, Anomen and Keldorn however both need a better dex to get a decent AC.
    (b) Anomen's cleric spells, especially bless, defensive harmony, chaotic commands, protection from negative plane, blablabla come in handy in most fights. As a high level cleric his dispell magic, though on casterlevel, is still really powerful.
    (c) When he reaches lvl-25 he gets his holy symbol, boosting his str by one (means he'll have str-20 with the girdle of hillgiant strength). However that only makes a digfference when you don't use crom
    (d) Jan Jansen can specialise in detect illusons which is de-facto just as good as true sight. So you don't really need Keldorn for that purpose.

I would like to keep Keldorn because he is a very good fighter, especially when he can use the Holy Avenger. Anomen is also a good cleric and a fighter when you need him.

[IMG] I gave up Keldorn for Saverok & am really glad. I thought the Versus books really overrated Keldorn as a fighter. My main character was already a paladin & Anomen w/ the Crom Faeyr has proven to be a great 'tank', leaving Keldorn as weak archer. W/ him out, Jaheira has gotten some great shots out the Sling of Avoreen, finally making her more than a romance & good creature maker. Aerie as a cleric/mage makes up for the True Sight & Dispel Magic that Keldorn provided. But most importantly the '200's' that Saverok's whirlwinds have put up have really rocked!

I ended up giving up Korgan for Sarevok and my choice has paid off a lot.

He didn't fit into my party at all, primarily because of his alignment. With Keldorn and Minsc as my heavy hitters and a dual-wielding Anomen, I didn't need another fighter type. Sure he has great stats and all, but I just don't think he would have worked out well.

Maybe on my next go-around..... :hmm:

You could also have a bit of fun and dual Sarevok to a thief. Imagine the a fighter 18 / thief 19+ ! *shudders*
Problem is of course that you'd have a low level thief tag along for half the game before he caught up in levels, but well...
I tried dualling him to a mage on my first run, but that didn't turn out well, since after doing the Keep and ToB he ended 18/18 (grrrrr...).

As for Sarevok's alignment, he is ESPECIALLY suited for GOOD-aligned parties, as making an arch-villain repent and become "good" is a far more worthy achievement than bashing a few liches into oblivion.

I love his ability to change his alignment.
