I just recently defeated Kangaxx to get the Ring of Gaxx, because playing a Kensai I could really use it. But then a friend told me that I would notice certain changes on my character. When I asked what kind of changes, he just grinned a said "Try and find out." So there is this evil aura of the ring and my neutral good kensai and now I'm to scared to use the ring.
Does anyone know what will happen and if those changes only occur when you wear the ring all the time or when you wear it only during certain battles, too ?

I've never heard of any adverse affects when wearing Ring of Gaxx. I've had it on my CG character with no problems. It is arguably one of the best items in the game.
    Armor Class +2
    Saving Throws +2 Bonus
    Magic Res. +10% Bonus
    Immunity to Disease and poison
Regenerates 1Hit point every 3 sec.
Cast Invisibility once per day, Improved haste 3x perday
If you search on the Boards for this subject you'll probably find more conclusive information. It's always best to search before posting.. you might find your answer sooner

Xenecor is telling all that needs to be told.
There is no mystical energy field around the ring. Your friend is pulling a joke IMHO

The only change worth noting is that your character gets a lot better with this ring on his/her finger (unless he/she's a mage and is already wearing two Rings of Wizardry or something). :)

The ring will make the rest of your time real easy. No adverse affects though (besides kicking everyone's butt all the time and getting a big head).

Maybe your friend is talking about the Rod of Terror.

First I thought he really had pulled a joke on me (I usually fall for that), but he still insists that he experienced some visual effect with his character after wearing the ring. Somethig when leaving a screen. He was quite surprised that nothing like that happened with my character. Well, maybe just some kind of bug. As usual. :(

[IMG] Tina, he might be telling the truth. There is some visual bug effect if you have ToB installed - but this has nothing to do with Ring of Gaxx. The bug occurs EVERY TIME you're leaving area.

Lokken says it is some fire/glow effect around your feet with some annoying sound. This happens AFTER you receive Slayer Change ability. But as I stated, only if ToB is installed.

[IMG] Actually this is not a bug. It was added to the character willingly in ToB. It is supposed to highlight your increasing divine power. It glows up every time you leave an area, or if something important happens (dialod with bosses).
Not a SoA related stuff, sorry, but I must add that a few member of the Five also "uses" this fiery effect sometimes, for example Yaga-Shura.

It is impossible to wear two at the same time, but a ring of wizardry AND a ring of acuity!
