    Generally, I agree with that statement. I think a large part of what makes rock music from the 60s so powerful is how close it is to its roots, particularly the blues. Yet, there are specifics that prove that that is not necessarily the case. For instance, how close is the Beatle's "Sgt. Pepper" to its blues roots? And isn't part its power in how it chooses to distance itself from those roots? Nevertheless, I believe that "generally" there is a lot of truth in that statement.
