:smash: Pots and kettles and stuff.

Since this thread is so metal oriented: would you call bands like Deep Purple and Led Zep (heavy) metal or not?

By today standards bands like these are considered hard rock bands, however by the standards of late 60s and early 70s they are heavy metal. Just listen to any pop song of this period and then listen to "Smoke on the water" and imagine how this would sound to the ears of the average person of late 60s/early 70s. IMO it would sound exactly as Slayer for example sound to the average person of today.

DP, LZ and Black Sabbath were the beggingers/creators/fathers of heavy metal.
Smoke On The Water - one of the most important and infuential riffs in the history of music. Life would be so much different if the song would have never been written.

They may be the fathers, but they are not heavy metal now. They are hard rock, in my opinion. They're all great, of course.

Why is it a shame? For the last time, talk about whatever you want...

I was listening to Blink 182 recently (old stuff, Dude Ranch), and I still think its good. Dude Ranch was a great CD, I'd have to say. Enema of the State had some good stuff on it, but after that, Blink wasn't very good... especially their newest CD. Even though their last 2 CDs sucked (Self-titled and Take Off Your Pants and Jacket), it is a shame they split up.

    And greenday is yucky.

well, when the Amorphis single came out it becamme the #1 single on its first week and passed everything else, including eminem :D

and i just discovered that i am technically related by marriage to one of the guys of 69 eyes - my cousin's husband is apparently the uncle of one of the guys so this means that sometime in the near future i get to se the band and be on the guest list

Huh...so I finally called the radio station to find out who sings that "One way ticket to hell" song, and it turns out it's from some band called 'The Darkness'.

Never heard of them... :rolling:

They are a British glam rock band. Not really my cup of tea, though one of my chums likes them.

I don't think you should take The Darkness too seriously, because they probably don't do either. Their christmas song is pretty catchy, but besides that, they haven't made anything yet I really like.

It just goes to show how open minded the Finnish are in regards to music! Metal, dance and pop music all in the one chart!

God you guys post a lot in a day. I have a reply to HB post about listening to heavy metal and not being able to hear the lyrics.
HB, I know a lot of people who listen to heavy metal for the music, not the lyrics. I personally, would rather listen to a band with skilled musicians and no singing, than a band with a great singer and bad musicians.

I don't think I'll ever start listening to The Darkness. They just have been playing that one song from them over and over on the radio here, and after awhile, it gets stuck in your head. :bang:

To be honest, there only a few Glam Rock bands that I do like, Motley Crue and Def Leppard being the main two. :rolling:

Eh, The Darkness... not good, I'd have to say.

Duran Duran, on the other hand, actually have some interesting songs. I don't listen to them often, but I don't mind the 80's pop in short bursts.

And the song: "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight," is great... who's it by? I forget the name...

That would be Cutting Crew, Sabre. There is a goth/metal version by To/Die/For which is worth checking out.]

Daie - I think the only T-Rex song that made it big in the US was 'Get it on'.

The first album I bought was The Power Cosmic, by Bal-Sagoth.
