I really need to loosen up, in addition to learning how to sing better and find my voice.

We tape our bandpractices and this time we listened to the recording. I sounded either constipated, neutered, or both :shake:

Lots of early death metal albums have that type of vocal simply because they cannot sing, however some practice and become more confident that they can even manage 'real' singing after a while. Practice and relax.

Yeah, it'll take time and practice. It's a bit tricky since the band's been looking for a decent singer for two years now, so the wagon's ready to roll. They have a lot of songs waiting for some vocals and lyrics, so I hope they've got the patience to wait a little while.

You don't need to be a 'good' singer, just have a vocal style that suits the music. James Hetfield is a terrible singer, but it sounded 'right' on Ride the Lightening.

I'm listening to socialist songs from the spanish civil war. I got the idea from listening to the fancy tune: 'The party, the party is always right!' Huzzah.

Odd, odd. No, no. Not odd. A lass from former Eastern Germany mentioned the song last week in a joke. Humour then. Or the weird way ideas worm through my mind. Nastrovje tovaristch Bushnev!

PS: Funny, in these songs I hear a clear influence on the songs of the originally East-German band Subway to Sally, which is making a sort-of Gothic heavy rock with medieval instruments and influences. Brecht, Weill, Lenya, Busch - and Bach. Hah.

I like Subway to Sally and In-Extremo.

I have ordered 'Fight' by Doro. Its actually a really good album, and Doro looks amazing for her age.

That's how most of trash metal singers sound. They vocals are terrible if you compare them to other genres but they suit perfectly for that type of music (see Steve Souza from Exodus)

Indeed. Chris Boltendahl from Grave Digger would be considered a rather poor singer, but his very rough style works very well on some of their songs (of course, it does spoil the occasional one as well).

I just realized that Black Dog was playing while I read that. It seems my media player shuffle coincides too much with what I see. As an odd note, my copy of Led Zeppelin- (untitled) has Black Dog twice in a row to start it out... to bad I'm not a fan of the song.

Also to you death metal fans and haters, my friend recorded some stuff as a joke (he does not like most metal); if you're up to it here's the url:

Couldn't listen to the songs though because of problems with my machine...

I hope Fahrenheit can hurry up and make another album soon. Although I'm not complaining about their current one. *^^*

Daft Punk + wireless headphones = Lots of looking stupid while playing the air guitar.

    That is all.

When I was looking for an 8 cassette to tape some stuff, I stumbled on this recording of a band course we had in high school.

    I was the drummer. :shake:

It's not half bad drumming considering I hadn't played drums before, I managed to keep up the beat, although I didn't have the skills to make any decent fills.

And though it's not a nice thing to say, especially since the guy who insisted to be the singer was one of my best friends back then, the singing sucked. Even more than my drumming.

Everybody else got better grades than me from that course. Kind of ironic I'd guess, since I'm probably the only one of us making music these days...

I've actually seen that before in print and was thinking about trying to find it online...

EDIT: Now that I've actually been to the link it was something completely different.

Hey, I need some help. I'm looking for a song a heard awhile back that IIRC features Blink 182 along with the lead singer from the Cure.

Or maybe I was on something at the time, but I swear it was Blink 182 with Robert Smith. Does anyone know the name of the song, or what album it's on? :hmm: :rolling:

In other news I found out that TANK wrote a few Fahrenheit songs. I think I might look for some TANK songs.

Well, after a lot of searching, I found the song. It's called 'All of This' from Blink 182. I've been a Cure fan since I was born...due to the fact that's one of my sister's favorite bands growing up.

Anyway...wtf happened to this thread? It used to be lively and usually at the top of the Sensorium forum. :bad: :rolling:

You get a pretty killerass bass sound if you put a little bit of distortion or fuzz on it. It compresses the sound nicely, and if you keep it subtle, the fact that it's distorted doesn't even stand out that much unless you listen to the bass on its own.
