Guys, it's Thanksgiving, shouldn't we be wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving instead of bickering and sniping at each other like this?

Today is a day when we should be thinking about what we have to be thankful for, not finding insults. It's a day for celebration and overeating, not this.

Oh, and yes, I'm proud to say I'm an American. Which is why I mention it's an American holiday, even if mine is ruined because my mother seems to have the flu and she was supposed to host it this year. Nobody wants to risk spreading it. Maybe if it isn't the flu we might try to reschedule the feast for Sunday. There is this huge turkey in the 'fridge all ready to be cooked that is too much for just her or even just her and me.

I've had more than a few but they were either sold or died. Much like my pride, dignity, and respect. Sorry to hear that Slickster, I get to use my body as a crutch as I walk mine up a flight of 20 stairs :(

    Lo' me hearties,
strangely pleasing, in a melancholic way, how many years passed this place by, and it's still the same.

My mother got really sick on Thursday morning and called off Thanksgiving dinner shortly after I made the post.
Now she has a thawed turkey in the 'fridge but is too sick to eat it. She says even if she isn't well to come over on Sunday and she'll try to talk me through cooking it and to take most of it home, so I'm going to be eating turkey pretty much all week next week as we have enough turkey to feed 10 people and only two people are going to be eating the bird.
Good thing I love dark meat and she likes the white, so no fighting over drumsticks.

Man, you're all getting older and I'm younger with each passing day!

    And then I wake up.

Sorry to hear about the turkey drama, Slick.

It gets worse, I somehow botched the gravy. It didn't look burned, but it tasted like something was burned in it and was pretty much inedible.
Good news is, unlike the last time she tried to teach me to make a Thanksgiving Feast, everything else turned out more or less OK.
Tomorrow I'm going to have to buy some bottled/canned gravy for the leftovers. There were only two people today eating a turkey meant to feed 8-10 people and no gravy. We have a lot of leftovers.
I didn't cook everything we had planned for Thursday, because a lot of it was prepared and/or the recipes were meant to feed at least six, so the plan is to have turkey leftovers for the next couple days and only cook additional sides as needed.
I'm reminded of a skit/joke I heard on the radio back in the mid '90s where the DJ would put on a bit of a banter with the traffic & weather girl. In that one, which took place the day after Thanksgiving he asked "So, have you seen what's on the menu in the cafeteria today?" and she responded with a list of what's on the menu, but everything on the list contained turkey for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Joke was what to do with the leftover turkey.

I HATE gravy(along with mayo and ketchup). Luckily my parents took home all the leftover turkey(except the carcass soup we are finishing up today) only to cook another one this week that has been thawed out from someone else :(

Normally I love it, but what I just made on Sunday was some of the worst I've ever had, and I'm not sure where it went wrong.
It tasted like something was burned, but nothing looked burned.
The canned gravy I bought at the grocery store Monday afternoon was better, and normally that's not very good gravy.
