It is on the whole not worth taking a day off for a holiday when there are two days worth of backed up work waiting on Tuesday.

Oh, well, at least I can babble about it.

I'm off for three days with the class of '08 up to Maine (or down, if you live in Canada) for white water rafting. Not very excited, though.

Note to self: when dealing with unbearably smelly garbage disposal drain by pouring bleach down it, wear an old shirt. Or an apron. Or stand there naked.

One rather nice shirt headed to the trash can now. Oh, well, live and learn.

White water rafting is sooooo fun! The last time I went was just a few years back on the South Fork of the American River, near Sacramento, CA...and it was a blast! I professional photographer had set up at one of the river's level 4 rapids, and I bough a pretty cool photo of me and my group going through 'Trouble-maker'. :D

One of these years, I'm going to take the wife on a 4 day white water rafting trip down either the Kern, the American, or the Colorado rivers.

Saber...my advice to you is to bring a high powered squirt gun. In the areas of the river where there aren't any rapids, water fights between other rafts usually break out. :rolling:

OK Revmaf - thats also a note to me, but change the part of the unbearably smelly garbage disposal to unbearably smelly garbage can, and change the part about pouring bleach down it to just washing it out with suds and a high percentage of bleach....and change the part about ruining a good shirt to ruining a good pair of pants. Then we pretty much have the same story.

The mice have been quiet, waiting for the in-laws to leave on vacation. M-I-L b****ed to hubby about why we didn't call them, etc.. Hey doorknob, wtf can you do 100 miles away from the problem? We handled it the best we could - traps and poison. Sorry, but I'm not bothered at all that you had to toss out clothes and linens because mice nested in them for the summer. Funny how when they got into *your* stuff, it was time to call Orkin. Stupid bunt.

New problem: slugs! Yes, I woke up this morning and headed for the bathroom, groggy with no glasses and noticed a large, dark, cylindrical thing on the floor outside the bedroom. I didn't get too close in case it was something really freaky, instead sleepily poking hubby to do the Man Thing. Biggest problem: how to coax a slug into an empty cracker box.

WTF will happen next week? Crayfish?

    Hippies I can handle.

The mice ran a steeplechase through the bedroom walls last night. I guess they were going after the new, honey-coated, sprinkled with grass seed, poison block I set yesterday. And they are back to haunting where hubby and I live. :( Ooo, M-I-L has company right now, so I feel this is a good time to ask her to get Orkin in the house.

Give them some more poison cheese, and they may be *haunting* you in a different sense. ;)

Got back from Oregon/Washington late last night. Man am I tired. Four days of nothing but driving. We left at 1 AM on Saturday and we arrived at about 6 PM Saturday night. Then for the next two days we drove around the area looking at houses. We found a few in our price range that we liked. Better yet, my wife loved the area and is now wanting to make the move. We got home late last night after another marathon 16 hour drive. We're exhausted but it was well worth it. Now it's only a matter of time before we go. Jobs are the first priority. Once one of us gets a job up there, we're out of this hell-hole for good. I can't get out of this place soon enough!
