I was thinking of something in the Health industry so I could cash in on the huge demand for health workers as Brisbanes health system is in shambles.

I am doing a bachelor of corporate systems management which is a new course that is kind of like a business/IT dual but shorter and more specialised to management positions.

Yup there's a huge demand for Diagnostic Radiographers at the moment, and besides, every hospital needs them. I might do a post-grad afterwards although I'm not sure yet because if I can I want to try and transfer into Pharmacy at the end of this year because I was a few UAI points short. :(

Oooh, never heard of it although it seems pretty good. I guess when you find a job you'll be able to boss people around. :D

Hey!? More Brisbane-ites!!! Hooray! It seems I'm not the only one.

And yes! We need more Medical People, in any field.

There's also a reason it's in shambles. Health workers are over-worked and under-paid. So they quit, or they move away. Canada/England seem to treat their staff a lot better, and I might be moving there one of these years. You may hear of the Nursing Strikes that go on every few years?
Why do we do that? 'Cause we're over-worked and under-paid. You'll notice that without Nurses, the system collapses and the Government caves-in pretty quickly.

But, if you really want to cash in TBA, I suggest you do a 'general' Medical degree. And then work in rural areas. I have a friend who's doing that now and she's having her rent/bills/taxes being paid for her by the government, and she gets some kind of ludicrus amount of money for working out in Woop Woop. (For you non-Australians, that's 'Aussie' for "The Middle of Nowhere.")

Edit: I've just been told that Woop Woop is an actual town in Australia. And guess where it is? Yeah, out in the middle of Nowhere. That's apparently where the expression comes from.

Where abouts in Brisbane do you live Cheesegear?

And I have heard about many people jumping ship from the health department to go to different countries or persue different careers. I have a relie who worked in the IT sector for health and he quit just a couple of weeks ago for those same reasons.

OMG heaven no! At least in Canada well okay maybe just in Québec don't know nor care about the other provinces, but there's a huge medical staff shortage in all the field! It's impossible to see a doctor!

lol...Isn't Canada's Health System 100% FREE? That's why you can't see a doctor over there.

But, I'm no expert on Canadian Health System...Although, luckily for me, I have a Canadian Citizenship. I can come over anytime I like.

Pray that you never need to be hospitalized and/or in intensive care for a longer period of time, otherwise your loved ones will go bankrupt covering the medical bills. I seriously doubt that the medical system anywhere in the world is free. Subsidized, sure, but free? Even if there was such a thing, I'm sure it wouldn't cover any medicines, operations or hospitals, which cost the most.

You may not want to pay for Helath care, but there are advantages. Like for instance, I call my Doctors office and get an appointment next week, not next year.

    WOW is calling my name!

Actually the Canadian health care system does cover operations and most hospital costs (room upgrades, cafeteria food etc. are not covered). It doesn't cover prescription drugs.

Oh and I have never had a problem with getting a doctor's appointment at short notice. If I called today for a non-emergency appointment I could probably schedule one for Monday or Tuesday.

Denmark has socialised health care, and I can get an appointment with my doctor next week.

Of course, waiting lists for hip replacement, cancer treatment, or other ailments might be a bit long  - last year's scandal was that cancer patients had died while waiting for their treatments...

Health care is free here and I can get a doctor appointment within 3 days usually. Private healthcare doesn't appear to be an advantage as N.Ireland has a lower infant mortality rate than the US.

I think more public services should be nationalised.

Back to RBing, I just purchased a reative ZEN Vision:M which is supposed to arrive tomorrow morning. Can't wait.

My fiancee and I are both sick and our wedding is in a week! :(

It's a beautiful day out today. Far too nice to be stuck indoors at work.

    I'm craving pizza.

*sends Dinsdale some chicken soup and herb salads*

Eat this, drink twice as much water as you usually do and try and get enough sleep. Hopefully you will be better in a week.

@ Dinsdale sure hope you're both better quickly.

No tornados here but truly terrible damage in other states, including a hit on a high school in Alabama that killed several students.

My day off and the pest control guy woke me up so he got to see my hopelessly horrible bathroom and my fetching fuzzy bathrobe. Ah, life.

So I consoled myself with a pizza. And that's my story, Dr. R, and I'm sticking to it!
