I can't say that I like telemarketing but if a telemarketer is polite to me then I will be polite in return.

Actually, I have noticed that the telemarketers have been a lot more polite lately. Last year I was constantly amazed at how rude and snippy the telemarketers were getting.

I actually had a telemarketer flat out called me an idiot for not wanting to take advantage of his product and, while he was the only one who actually came right out and said it, that was certainly the tone that the others were trying to convey.

Currently they will either politely thank me for my time or try to make another persuasive sales pitch.

Oh, and chevalier, if they are only taking a survey I wouldn't say that qualifies as telemarketing really. It has to be an actual sales pitch, at least in my mind.

    Hah,
I've discoved a lovely service in Britain called the Telephone Preferential Service. Superb idea, basically any telemarketing company's targeting us are likely to get their arses sued. There's been a least one done for a £15,000 (or something like that) fine.
The Postal Preferential service is yet to kick in, but that should cut out most of the junk mail we get.
