    @ Harbourboy:

    Cicero was an orator and politician in the late Roman Republic. He spent one year in power (63 BCE), and spent the rest of his life bragging about it.

    Bills are life. I don't even open the envelopes most of the time I just use my interact and throw $30 or $50 dollars into the power/phone etc. every couple of weeks and it all seems to work out.

    @DHB: I doubt it...
    The first phrase more or less translates to: Have mercy on us, Lord.
    Exaudi = ? - Supplicationem nostram = our pleas/pleading...
    Third phrase = Bring the heretics in our hands?
    Update me please Chev.
    Cicero was an annoying and arrogant prick who wrote imcomprehensibly (I just spendt 8 weeks of Latin class working on his works, bleh)

    I'd guess that Exaudi = Hear. (audible, auditory, etc.)

    That would make the second sentence: "Hear our prayers."

    Though having never had any latin, I could certainly be way off base...

    [Edit] - Wow! Three hours without a peep in RB? That's unusual, isn't it? Where is everyone? Good thing I'm here to break up the silence. :D

    "Have mercy upon us, Lord. Hear our pleas. Give the heretics into our hands." But my latin is so far behind me I could be wrong.

    That would be the best way to say that in English. There's no direct translation for any part of that. Note: you don't want me to get started...

    /me makes will save and stops posting

    And Cicero wasn't nearly as virtuous as he presented himself. Manipulating facts (and opinions), deliberate distortions, executions without trial, abandoning the spouse that stood by him in his worst (for a young and rich girl who was first under his tutelage)... and so on.

    Cicero sounds pretty modern to me. Methinks he would fit in with a lot of our politician and leaders.

    Chev, I love your posts even when I don't agree with them or even understand them. :cool:

    Cicero was a pompus, self-absorbed idiot who glorified what he did for the Republic during his year in power.

    Hang on...that sounds oddly familiar, doesn't it?

    @Harbourboy

    Look to see where the current IotW and Splunge's posts co-inside. I think that may be it, but just a guess.

    And also...

    Mei lingua scientia verbera. :D

    (If that makes any sense at all ;) )

    @Nakia Nightshadow: That's always nice to hear, thank you :) As for Cicero, yeah, there's a repeating theme.

    In fact, in any given country in any given period one will find a Cicero, a Caesar, a Catillina, a Pompey, a Clodius and a Milo. Some time after that, some Antony will grow and some Octavian will find himself. And, of course, there's always some Cleopatra. As well as some poor Fulvia...
