You could also take the high road and be happy for her instead of sad for you.

 

@ Joacquin - Often the people you know in grade school are not who you think they are. It's difficult to know any person well as an adult but even less so with the inexperience and idealism of childhood. Even if she was single she might not have been the right person for you. At least now you can stop thinking about her and find someone else dream about.

@ Gaaer - I think that is sometimes easier said than done.

 

Oh I haven't thought about pursuing her since I was twelve or so but you know, I always kept an idealized image of her somewhere in my mind. Still remember when I cut open her eyebrow out on the playground with a hockeystick or when I one day when we were in our early teens I met at her at the beach and she was topless. That gave me plenty of fuel for all teenage boys' favourite occupation. I guess what I mourn is the death of the dream, the death of the pure image of her in my mind. Life has a way of moving along, at least for other people. My life hasn't moved much the last decade or so and I am not saying I am overly keen on it doing so, most of the people who move along seem to go to one unappealing place after another and I am fairly fond of my life as a careless bachelor without any real problems in the world. I just don't like other people changing when I liked them the way they were.

Oh and now and then it would be nice with someone to hug (without all the hassle that usually seem to go with it like kitchen renovations and picking drapes).

Don't mix those up, folks! You don't wanna end up eating lots of substances and ingesting fatty sexes, because you have bad food.

Never worry about the end of days, Ragnarok, a lot of rain, Mayan calanders you name it. In their case it is just simple things like nuclair war, meteroite inpact or biological accident. Fast, instant, efficient and no need for panic.

They have it easy. No need to increase the intake of fatty food, ingest bad substances and have lots of sex just because time is running out. They know it can happen any day.

Or do things like drive a forklifttruck in the snow between parked cars. I missed everything.

The Holiday seasons are clearly showing at the terminal, things are much busier than they were, and bloody hell, best time of the year, there's actually some action so these shifts don't feel like an 8-hour stretch of absolute boredom playing four different clones of Bejeweled on my Windows Phone. However... next week, I am going back to night shifts, yay... one of my coworkers wants his old schedule back since he has a few weeks off, and he has like four more years more working for the company than me, so I have to take this sucktastic schedule whenever I like it or not. However... convenience store in the building has a good deal for cases of Pepsi Max, so I just might survive those next few weeks!

 

True. with the rush towards Christmas, and a week of frost things have piked up at my work too. Car parts warehouse.

No boredom at my job. I have a boss above me who is lazy. He called in sick again. The boss above him is scratching the back of his head.

 

I promised not to be a Scrooge this year about the biggest Xmas market of the Netherlands held in my city, which is usually a feast for what we call "paupers and tokkies".

One of the bands is under my balcony and is playing quite nice actually, and I can smell pancakes and ehr... oliebollen (called Dutch Doughnuts, apparently).

So far, so good: no Scrooge!
