It's the lack of $$$ that prompted the DIY, that and the fact I suspected the project would escalate... plumbers don't do flooring.
The house has been a victim of jerry-rigged DIY in the past, so as projects come up, I make sure to re-do them properly.
I will call a pro to re-surface the bathtub and toilet, since the former has chips, and the latter does not match the tub and sink. That project is beyond my skills.
When I tear out and re-do the electrical however, the only other person that will be allowed near it is the inspector. Code is crap, I want to do it properly.

As for NCIS, if I happen to be home when it's on (a rare thing), I'll watch it. Gotta love Abby!!

 

I went shooting with my dad today. Poor old fart's hands shake (he turns 70 next month)...so while he had no trouble hitting the target...he only hit the bull’s-eye when he had the table to rest his hands/gun against.

I however, rock, and had a 3" spread at ~25'...
Not bad for being the first time I've shot my new baby.

I also shot my dad's old 22cal rifle that he bought all the way back when Sears was still known as Sears Roebuck & Co... That old, beat up rifle was the first gun I ever shot in my life...waaaaay back when I was 8-ish. Brought back good memories. And it's still as accurate as it was when I used to blast poker chips as a kid!

 

No argument there.
Luckily, most heating in chemistry gets done on oil/sand/water baths and electric heaters. On rare occasions where actual open flames are used, the thick layer of sooth over everything is a blessing.

The only thing I expect of my lab coats is to keep the chemicals off my clothes, so my mom doesn't give me The Look.
(Like she did when I came home with silver and iodine stains on the new shoes.)
I'm a firm believer in goggles, while gloves are a necessary evil.


My brother watches both JAG and NCIS, I only did so occasionally - never got too interested in either, tbh. Abby is a nice character, agreed.

 

My flatmate's little sister yesterday got a kidney transplant. If everything goes well, it'll mean her not having to go through dialysis three times a week for a couple hours, enabling her to lead a 'normal life'. Good luck!

She has been waiting for a new kidney for three years or so. She got the transplant on Sunday, when her mother, fed up with the delay, just had a session with the ethics council that cleared her donating one of her kidney to her daughter. No need for that, it turned out, as accident had it that a suitable organ was available on Sunday.

 

Not being able to sleep at night on account of coughing and congestion is getting really old. Tonight at least I have some theraflu type medicine as well as a menthol vapor patch on me to help. Decided to use their powers after not being able to fall asleep after an hour and a half of hacking.

 

Wooo! After last night's games, I'm first in my fantasy hockey pool! Woop woop! Who's you daddy?

 

I originally liked the character of Gibbs, but Marc Harmon is not a good actor. The other actors on the show have had their character's evolve, but Harmon doesn't change, just the same old thing every week.

 

My beloved likes NCIS, but I have to complain about Gibbs. Harmon is an adequate actor, and the character started out with potential, but he never progresses or evolves. But such is the case with many of the "truly studly" male leads on such procedurals.

 

I'll admit he's a better character than Horacio Kane(David Caruso) on CSI:Miami, talk about over acting.

Yay for 7-day weekends.. Too bad the weekend is ended with 3 big tests on Thursday and Friday

Sore Hand? Rosey Palmer coming over for a visit? Better stop that before you get some Carpal Tunnel... not that I would know, being married an all has it perks!

 

Haha, no, I was referring to the policy that my school enacted - no sex while your roommate is in your room (or if it is going to interrupt his study habits). We were on the news! (It is a stupid rule, just making common sense into a policy on paper.)

But now that he's gone, I can bring over all the women who are constantly on their knees, begging for me and not worry about my roommate's psych exam!

 

Your school seriously enacted a policy like that? Holy Crap! That's pretty wild.

 

I would hope there is no sex while your roommate was in the room, that would be.... awkward. Plus, one of you would be sore. For your sake, hopefully it's your roommate!
