@ Silvery - apparently when women are VERY pregnant they sometimes get the urge to clean in ridiculous places. I know a lady who went to work on the dust bunnies at the tops of the cupboards a couple days before she gave birth. After that she was crouching down cleaning inside all the air vents.

I don't get why people use the term very pregnant - can one be *slightly* pregnant? :p

Usually I hear this used to note late term pregnancies (big uncomfortable bellies) vs. Early term pregnancies (small cute bellies).

It's generally used to better paint the picture.

[IMG] On the upside all snakes are clean for RI symptoms

I guess a second upside is that being bitten by an australian python doesn't hurt as much as Kev implied.

Downside is he still hasn't let go and is acting as if my hand is tasty, tasty noms.

    Bite its tail

Actually, I may be thinking of a different animal but if all else fails....

[IMG] I would, but he's the longest snake, and I found out after bringing him home that he has a penchant for biting noses if he can.

I dunked him under the tap in the bathroom, he (eventually) let go, just spent the last couple of minutes putting him in his vivarium. He struck at the glass a few times while trying to close it up again, good thing I won't get anything bigger than 5' eh?

The bite was a feeding response, considering how tightly he coiled after striking, so he's probably in a mood with us now until we give him a proper meal tomorrow evening.

Kev is more upset about it than I am, he's concerned if Rufus doesn't calm down with regular handling that we'll not be able to keep him. He's not happy with us keeping animals I can't adequately handle on my own - and trying to unwrap a 3' python from my tiny mitts one handed wouldn't have been possible

[Edit] Actually, I lie, I'd give a kidney for a Woma Python, but they're as docile as a draught excluder.

Because he gets fed on Fridays ;)

Caelia is fed on Monday, Merlin; Wednesday, Galahad and Rufus fed separately on Friday. Merlin is fasting at the moment though because it's technically breeding season but he's a bit young and there are no lady pythons up for it.

If there were any local lady pythons around could you get a stud fee for his services?

You could read my blog - that's interesting :p. Or maybe it's all in my head :D :D.

He's too young to stud at the moment, he's sub-adult still, only about 300g and male pythons will er... breed themselves to death :p

He's also a wildtype - a 'normal', so wouldn't really be worth it, most people would only be willing to loan females or multi-gene males. Even then half the people involved are only willing to buy the animal outright and then sell it on afterwards so they don't have to split clutches or profits.

Too easy for a deal to turn sour, which is why at the moment I'm looking to save up cash and invest in females in the future. It's going to be about two possibly three more winters until Caelia is ready to breed so by then maybe Merlin will have a lady friend himself ;)

Well ... that's got to be the most interesting start to a post I've ever read ... but the rest was horribly disappointing (except in the "nvest in females" part which makes 8 sound like a Madame).

I forgot to mention that Tucker’s son is always wearing a knitted winter cap, and so his nickname is “toque”.

    Yes,...

**Ouch! Oof! That hurts! Hey, stop beating me!**
