    That reminds me of the Boston Museum of Science scale model of the solar system where only the Sun, Mercury and Venus are on the museum grounds and Pluto is ~15km away.

    The kind of man Neil Armstrong was...

    I think the most interesting thing about Mr. Armstrong is how very reclusive he was, for being such a huge public figure, etc.

    I always figured that he was a guy who simply did his job, and realized how accomplished the other potential "first step" guys were, and that it was the luck of the draw for him to eventually be the commander of the first, actual, "let's get out and walk around" mission to the Moon. It is telling that one of the few times he _did_ speak out, in recent times, was to voice his concern about the ending of the manned spaceflight program.

    [ There is a nice display at the Kennedy Space Center or the Astronaut Museum which is basically next to it; it shows the sequence of events which resulted in NA being the commander of that particular mission, including sickness/injury, etc. ]
