Aldeth, not the ladies, not the ladies... *I* will answer to that one. I hate double standards. Males can indeed make sluts of themselves the way they dress and act around women.

Not all men. I always feel offended when treated like a sex object and I never fail to inform the author of the comment.

 

In order for me to be with someone, they'd have to have social and religious values that are fairly similar to mine. On that basis, I could not handle a significant other of mine in such a job. This doesn't mean I look down on women in these jobs, however.

 

You can't look down on them anyway. They're usually up on a platform, so unless you have an ankle fetish....

 

Yeah, LKD has spoken wisely. One should never look down on other people. I admit, sometimes I have a problem with that. Still, I can't think other than negatively about this thing. It's not a proper way of making money. I'm not judging individual people. When we single out one of them, perhaps she's collecting money for a sick grandma's surgery and can't get another job, while hating this one. Various things happen. But it's not a normal, proper job, like a gardener, bus driver, accountant, teacher, janitor, anyway. There are people who think showing private parts for money is better than manual labour.

 

If that's her motive, then the relationship is doomed before the first date. I might be okay with her job, but dump he because she is a bitch...

I'd prefer not to think about them. I have the same parts as they do. It's not terribly impressive. Having been the bad boy once, I've seen female strippers, and really, once you've seen one, you've seen them all. I want more than just looks in a woman.

That's the attitude I'd be looking for. If she was a "Booth Babe", but that was her attitude (dress to be attractive but she's there to promote a product), I'd be okay with that.

 

Think I missed something, the direct links didn't seem to show the lasses being particularly scantily clad to me - Crop top and shorts. Maybe you need to go further into the sites but I can't be faffed.

I do not know what age you are, but I don't think a woman can all of a sudden become unattractive just because they hit a certain age. If you want to be a 'booth babe' at 45 go for it!

Regarding male strippers. From what I have observed, women usually go there for fun and a laugh, not to be turned on, but when men to go female strippers, this is purly sexual (and stupid in my opinion).

Personally I think there is a difference between beautiful and sexy.

I would say that Aishwarya Rai is beautiful, but others would say Pamela Anderson was sexy. And I would take Aishwarya over any blonde slut anyday

Well now, this interested me, so I actually got around to checking the links. With the exception of the last link, most of those outfits are about what ye average lassie in high school wears.

Frankly, I saw more skin than that during cross country training.

 

Not exactly true. Ask one of the male strippers. After each show they are *always* having sex with someone from the audience. So, at least for some women, it IS sexually arousing.

 

I was careful to say 'usually' true, but then again I have never seen female strippers, never mind male!

The 'show' might not be arousing, but the intimate setting with the 'performer' might be more of a turn on. These are just my thoughts, but a woman that actually goes to male strippers would be better qualified to answer such questions (Rice and Mrs Bush!).

Category A: I admire sensual, elegant, sexy and beautiful woman. Such people make me smile and I like my girl to be like that.

Category B: I get sexually aroused when seeing 'slutty', hot bombshell-type women showing off. I feel slightly embarrassed looking at them and I don't want my girl to be like that.

From what I have seen in the links, I think most boothgirls are a tad too slutty (B) for my likings, some, though, are different and pleasant to see (A).

Lingerie is a different thing. You can show sexy lingerie and be admired by me and you can show lingerie 'the wrong way', sending me away.

Main question is: What are you there for? Show the product or yourself?
Lingerie-model would be showing the product (Not being the product). Car-show booth-girl would be showing herself (being the product)

 

This brings up an entirely new ethical issue -- when is modelling slutty? I mean, when a woman is onstage buck nekkid, to me, that's wrong (or slutty, or whatever adjective you wish to use to term the wrongness). The same if she's at the strip club wearing only lingerie. However, is it OK if she's on a runway in Milan in the same lingerie? How about in a Victoria's Secret catalogue? A Frederick's of Hollywood catalogue? Maxim magazine? Where does the line get drawn?

For me, the more I think about it, the more I believe that a person's body should not be the primary method through which they make their money. I'd like to think (call me naive if you will) that there is more to every person on the planet.

HOWEVER, I will here and now acknowledge my hypocrisy. I have watched a few naughty films in my life, been to some clubs, and picked up a few magazines. And, as I said before, I don't condemn the women who make their living that way -- as Chevy said, often they're in a financial situation that makes such a job their only option. Nevertheless, as a society we should not focus so heavily on looks.

As for male strippers, well, the same thing really applies. It's still not a healthy way to make money. Even if I had the proper physique (which I most certainly do not) I wouldn't do it myself, even if it meant getting sex from an audience member after every show (which is morally problematic, to say the least!)

You raise a very important point, asking where the line is drawn. I must say I can't think of anything 100% precise. I suppose what decides is:

1. The goal, first of all. If the goal is dim or not precise, then:
2. The length/hugginess of it. How much is shown. And:
3. In what way it is shown. Elegant and somewhat innocent or aggressive and downright provocative.
4. Where can you place in on the cute-sexy scale (not like these two are antonyms, but let's presuppose this).
5. What the girl's upbringing is, what her normal standards are.

I know, this sounds awfully judgemental and I don't want to make it a judgement, but it's all I can come up with.

Milan is less slutty than a Nerd Convention. Provocative is more slutty than merely showing. Revealing is more slutty than not covering. But this is all far from accute. I'll still stick to the distinction between being attractive and arousing. Making yourself look great or preparing to give guys a hard time.

Sometimes women like to provoke a little and they don't necessarily have dirty thoughts coming along with it, but making money on guys' sexuality is different.

This probably leads to the conclusion that the individual sluttiness isn't so big when the particular girl doesn't think much about it, doesn't realise how slutty it is, and it seems everyone else is doing that, everything considers it normal etc...

That would work for something like moral culpability, but we aren't judging here. It's still slutty from a more objective (instead of her subjective) perspective. Lots of it comes down to the general sluttiness of the present times, it seems.

EDIT:

Still, how we rate it, excuse it etc is not the same thing as the question if we would like our girlfriend or wife to dress like that and act like that around guys.

I surely wouldn't like my wife or even girlfriend to stand half-naked in front of or amongst perverted sex-hungry nerds and pose to photos with them and with their hands on her body, like the photos are usually taken.

I agree with dmc. I would also add that "some" women who wear business suits to work wear them with the intention of generating some sort of attention of a sexual nature. It's not only skimpy clothes that can serve that purpose.
