"Darkness over Daggerford" is free. I never bothered to buy the official modules.

    Others I can recommend are:

AL2 - Crimson Tides of Tethyr:
Troops of the Sothsillian Empire attack Tethyr seemingly for no reason at all. Join the army, fight the horde and discover what is behind this assault.

AL3 - Tyrants of the Moonsea:
Slaadi and Demons terrorize the lands surrounding the Moonsea. A new power group has summoned them, and both the Black Network and Hillsfar think the other is behind it. Try to stop the looming war which would cost thousands of lifes.

    Almraiven:
Something isn't right in Calimshans city of Almraiven. People vanish almost every day, and no one can imagine why and where. You are a minor wizard of a necromantic school who gets the mission to discover who or what is behind the events.
(Arcane CSI-like gameplay. Use magic to secure evidence.)

    Cormyrean Nights:
You wake up in the jail in Marsember. You cannot remember why you are there. Heck, remembering your name is hard enough. Evidently you were robbed when drunk, but you've got the feeling that you have something to do in the city. Someone got to know more. But first, you got to earn some money.

A Hunt through the Dark 1-6:
You were hired by a minor cleric of Lloth to serve as a scout for her warband on a mission to secure new slaves after Menzoberranzans fateful attack on Mithral Hall. But is her goal really to aquire new slaves? Or does she have another plan, something very daring and dangerous? It could be an opportunity for you to get free of drow society, or to get powerful enough to get rid of that pesky priestess.
But try to keep your back to the walls. Someone might stick it with a knife or two.

Thanks for the helpful recommendations, just to clarify are these all single player mods? Or are they played on an online server?

Downloadable mods you can get at NWVault.

Any more recommendations if we are at it? And whoever has not played Daggerford yet should definitely consider it. I'm going to be reviewing it soon.

NWN2 is twice the game NWN1 is IMO. I could never really put the finger on what I didn't like about the first one, but playing NWN2 has highlighted it and now I know. The dialogue. The dialogue in the first NWN really sucked.

I hated the OC and by the time the expansions came out, the damage was done. Maybe I should try modules mentioned above.

Cúchulain, the player made modules, both multiplayer and or me espacially singleplayer is what made NWN1 great.

Obviously, if dialogue had been the criterium for me, I wouldn't have touched an RPG since Fallout 1 & 2. Except maybe for PS:T, which has lots of involving dialogues, but is still clearly lacking in the humour department.

As for the poll, I played NWN today, so I guess that answers that question. Don't know if I'll bother getting the sequel, either.

Just noticed something peculiar. The topic start says "once you've got it", while the poll says "now that it's out". Care to enlighten us which one it is, chev?

I think I'll give this Darkness over Daggerford a crack, its only 15-20 hours long so if i get stuck on it i wont miss too much study time :p , I havent finished the OC yet (just got to Luskan) but i don't really have the inclination to as the dialogue is poor and it just seems like the same basic type of quest over and over again.

PS:T was lacking in humour? It was bloody hilarious man.

Still playing it. But then I only got NWN1 a few months ago and am currently doing both OC and SoU. Haven't even made a character for HoU.

I'm enjoying the OC. A fighter/thief (4/8) dual welding (all three feats) with weapon finesse, and robes of the old order for haste. With the Namarra and Feyduster most enemies are dazed and then the sneak attacks are devastating. Undead are a problem, but it's fun.

In SoA I'm building a bard/harper scout/arcane archer. Not the most powerful build, but I'm enjoying it.

I think I'll do a shifter for HoU.

Plus there's all those fan modules out there. Enough to keep me entertained for a long time (especially since I have a life other than playing computer games). I doubt I'll even get NWN2 until it's on sale for under $20 (US).

Henkie: Did you not take Morte with you? Annah's pillows, the head of Vecna, zombies... you missed out on some funny stuff.

T2Bruno - you should take your SoU character into HotU so that you can see it reach higher levels, especially those cool high AA levels.

    @ Duffin

You should really try some of the mods out. They're great fun.

    I'd personally recommend
    Paladin Trilogy Twilight and Midnight
    Blackguard I, II and III
A Dance with Rogues I and II
    Shawdowlords
    Hex Coda

Check out this thread for other great suggestions
    good mods

That's where I found out about many of them. Then just look on the nvnvault mods page for others that tickle your fancy. Right now I'm playing A Dance with Rogues. It's great, though adult rated, and maybe not to everyone's tastes.

    Have fun.

How do I unlock the prestige classes? If it takes time, are there any mods that do it for me?

Read the descriptions, you lazy sod! :p

Prestige classes have a series of requirements you need to reach. For instance, Assassin requires that you are of Evil Alignment, and have 8 ranks in both Hide and Move Silently.

To remove the requirements, look for No Class Requirements 2da here.

A bit more in topic, I'll keep playing NWN1 even after (if) I get NWN2. Same with BG1 and 2, I still play both of them. To me they are still two different games.

Oh, so would you say start with a rogue, get 8 Hide and Move Silently and evil alignment, THEN your rogue 'upgrades' to an Assassin? I thought they were more like starting classes.

No, they are more like 'specialist classes'. Prestige classes also have the added bonus of not counting towards XP loss for multiclassing to a non-favored class.

Meeting the requirements only means that the class becomes available for multi-classing.

Yes, I did. But somehow the humour in PS:T didn't strike me as very funny. Sure, it was amusing, and good for a laugh once in a while, but when it's "Uh, huh. You say you deal to the third player unless it's Thursday? OK, I think I've got it now. Let's play." vs "Annah's pillows", I know which I find funnier. Besides, Nordom > Morte in terms of funny ;)

Also, good choice on the Shifter, it's a lot of fun to play.

I am coming towards the end of SoU and plan to take my character into HotU. I feel glad I am playing NWN1 and not the train-wreck that NWN2 sounds like it is.
