    That's a meatshield, not a tank. A meatshield is designed for absorbing punishment, while a tank has to be able to both give and receive. (Incidentally, offense without defense is a "flanker", due to how they're best used.) Now, AC can make a difference in tanking on defense, but not as big a one as the boost to offense that proper dual-wielding can provide. In the end, the extra offense more than makes up for the slight loss of defense, and your tank will take less damage because the enemy isn't around as long to provide it.

    Well, we answered you :D . Ok, to be honest, it just depends on your style, but I think the Flail of Ages gives you its goods more consistently. A slowed opponent isn't as good as a dead one, but it's still a lifesaver - and happens way more often, even with only 3 heads.

    By the way, how about longswords? I trust at least one character can wield them in your party...
