    Well, this is why they say they do not negotiate with terrorists° . You just can't trust'em.

    °: unless they terrorize in the name of a good (in the moral or material sense) cause, terrorize "bad" people (as defined by whoever happens to be at the helm of the relevant apparatus), are affiliated with an allied state, have something nice but not worth fighting over, or are connected to legitimate but well-connected business interests. You'd be surprised what noble, valiant and selfless people can be considered terrorists by some.

    I forgot where, but I read someone proposing to award Cheney, Addington, Yoo, Gonzales and their torturing acolytes the Ike-Turner-Medal to honour their outstanding achievements in emulating his finesse in the art (100 ways to beat your wife that won't leave bruises).

    I found that quite fitting.
