I can only get 3 channals... Don't have to strain hard to remember the days I could get less than five channals. But atleast our three channals follow a nice order. 1, 2 and 3!

Well when I was young, only SRC 4 (French CBC), TVA 10, Radio-Québec 17, and TQS 35 were available. Oh yeah and a bunch of other English channel that I never bothered to watch, because back then I couldn't understand english. We only got Cable TV when I begun High School.

I remember when we only had 4 channels, and some lucky bastards were able to pick up RTE and Network 2 (2 channels from the Republic).

I also remember playing my Spectrum with a black and white TV, but most Speccy games only had a few different colours anyway.

[IMG] I am 44, and I dont care for those TV references :

... I dont care for TVs, neither. :)

I NEVER had one of them !
:book: I prefer books or cinema.

When I want play to my consols i go to less to 100 feet, through the yard, to the twin flat of my concubine, using her TV screen !

Yes i have project to buy HER a good LCD TV, but it's mainly, heu .... to enjoy blue and green water colors on the Lac Hylia of ZELDA, Occarina of Time™ on that good old Nintendo64.
Or, marvelous lands in the best game of PS2:
    DRAKAN, The Ancient Gates !
    (buy it) :D

    — What is it to be 44 ?
Dont ask to me. I am in a Temporal Stasis bubble since ... heu, 1980, perhaps ( my AD&D Monster Manual was 1979 4th ed., i know that ).

If i have Peter Pan complex (unlikely), i dont suffer of IT, in all cases.
Other things, and personal aims, are more important, anyway ! And the ±80 years of a human biologic life passe as a fire line.

Give me a couple more months and I'll be joining the 22-29 category. Until then I'll be in the 17-21, though I spent a good deal of my childhood without a computer in the household (or gaming system for that matter) so there was definately a "time before computers" for me. One of the family's two TVs was black and white as well :D .

I can remember the good ol' days of DOS 4.01, when the only way you could edit a text file was using Edlin.
    Then Windows 3.0 came out...

Looking back it does seem strange to remember those days when internet, optical discs and mobile phones did not exist.

So. Who are the yin and yang? the oldest and the youngest SP posters? ;) (my criteria for being counted is either you have just registered but intend to keep posting or are pretty regular and post at least once a month)

17 - 21 are clear leaders again. That must mean that there is fresh young blood being constantly introduced as the old guard get even older.

Well done to Tal for keeping SP fresh and relevant for the new generation (Tal's not getting any younger either, you know)

Aside from Tal, the oldest poster is Sir Belisarius. Youngest...well, that makes me think of an article I read in the Onion lately.

Felinoid, you need to look up the definition of "oldest", as contrasted to "earliest" (or "firstest"). :p

I'm actually 25. So I'm definitely not old.

Cool poll. I've recently wondered a lot of the distinct qualities of the last generation of the previous millennium. One of such qualities being the fact that we could be considered as the first generation who've grown up in the middle of all the computer games.

Commodore 64 anyone? 8-bit Nintendo? But I've never had any contact with Amiga. Well, I did play with the school's computers but I think they were PC XT 286's, or something, by then. I remember the school-yard talks with my friends about the fast rate the computers were developing: "An' what comes after 486's? I've heard they're making 586's already! An' just imagine what you could do with a 786 or a 986!" :hahaerr:

I myself never had that much else to do with computers, since we were poor, but I always wasted time hunched in front of my friends' computers either playing or even watching them killing all those monsters in Nethack and other classics.

Those were the days. Such nostalgia this poll brings about is almost overwhelming. *sigh* :shake:
