It really depends on what is in it. Two options, a gorgious strawberry Milkshake or a horrible tomato juice. Then the glass would be either half full or half empty. It breaks down like this; if you are an optimist you would say that the tomato juice glass is half empty and the Strawberry Milkshake glass is half full, while a pessimist would state that this dreadfull Tomato juice is half full and the tasty strawberry Milkshake is already half empty.

    So I couldn't vote ;)

Excuse me? Excuse me, is this my glass? I don't think so! My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass, too!

Hey, hey! This has been asked before! It's still half-full, ya know!

(Or, like an engineer would say; there is by half too much glass than required to hold the liquid)

[IMG] I don't care, if there's still some drink left. ;)

    Ok, I say half empty.

I totally agree with 8people. Part of it is full of liquid matter; part of it is full of gaseous matter. Therefore, the whole glass is full at all times.

Hmph. If you want to get technical like that, then the glass can never be full because there is space in between all the molecules of the liquid and even more between the molecules of the gas.

BTA; They are obviously saying there is no grand scale vacuum in the glas. Which does both hold more practical relevance and more theoretical relevance to the observations of the glass, next to atomic distances between molecules, gaseous or not.

[IMG] Ha! What if the glass was in a hard vacuum and the something which was taking up half of the glass' containment volume was a solid? ;)

Seeing as this "glass" you speak of has no existence in reality and has only been concieved through some unelaborate hallucination/fantasy of your mind fathom my conclusion is neither. But just to stimulate this imaginary substance and my own thought process I say that it is both half full and empty just as a ying-yang is half white and half black.

[IMG] Take a glass. Fill it with water. Take half of the water out. Et voila! The glass is half full.

Take a glass. Don't fill it with water. It's empty now. Take half the water out. It's still empty. So a half empty glass must be impossible.

    The glass is half full!

Then we would all be completely confused and not be able to answer the question. :hmm:

Hard Vacuum? Next to soft Vacuum? :shake:

Anyway if the glass is in vacuum and we are accidentally "drinking" granny's mudslam metal shake, then the glas would definately be following your excellent line of thought BTA, and the glass wouldn't be completely full. You old Scoundrel. :hahaerr:

Well, it depends on my mood. At the moment, it would definitely be half empty. Having started seeing this girl and her then moving back to her parents place for the summer, and trying to hold down some form of communication between us, my pessamistic side has been working on overdrive.

My optimistic side is very much submissive to my pessamistic side.
