[IMG] Most of you have probably already read THIS , but now that the three systems (Nintendo Gamecube, Sony Playstation 2, and Microsoft X-Box) have found their niche, what is your opinion?

(Yea, I'm bashing X-Box a bit ;) Besides, it's fun to read what Maddox has written)

IMO, Gamecube has a reputation of being a "kiddy-kiddy" machine, and who can blame it? Just look at the game selection. On the other hand, the Big N certainly has the most famous brands and the biggest potential.

Playstation 2 seems to be the favorite of today; it has the widest selection of games and can play DVD's too -something Gamecube cannot. But it's older than X-Box or GC, and most of it's selection is rather 'average' in quality.

X-Box is... Okay, I give up. :D Tell us your opinion about the games and the console, and which one you (might have) bought. ;)

I have a PC, a very good one and it owns all them consoles period. My little brova has a PS2 but I don’t play it because I get bored with all the games after a few minutes. The X-Box is the same except it looks a bit better. GC is my favourite of all 3, I have always been a Nintendo fan and I intend to buy the GC when I have time. I would buy it just to play Zelda though and then I probably wouldn’t play it again ;)

Oh and Halo SUCKS BIG TIME!

I would buy all 3 consoles if I had the cash. However, I only own a PS2 at the moment and I don't play it much. No other RPG seems to match up once you've played BG2 or Planescape anymore.

Sorry, Gamecube is dying and dying fast, thats why they have had price cut after price cut, Xbox comes in second, but that will only last until PS3 comes out, at which Sony rules again. Nintendo will probably go the way of Sega if they are not careful.

I'm bloody pissed about Gamecube sucking so much, since my brother did buy one. It's got a few quality games, but the real allure of it is laying the smackdown in Super Smash Brothers: Melee. Even after years, it's still consistently fun. Gamecube tends to be the best multiplayer system, at least between people in your own goddamn house. Crystal Chronicles may help saving it, but they do need to wake up and smell the coffee: the generation of gamers that grew up on Mario are in their twenties and thirties now. They want adult-themed games (not pornographic, just mature), and the X-Box and Playstation 2 are better at delivering those.

Still, nothing beats a powerful PC.

Over the years, I've owned a NES, Sega Master System, SNES, and a N64.

I would call all of them "kiddie", simply because of American law. Violence before sexuality. There's always a nude patch for the PC.

I think the Xbox is just a TPCA-enabled PC. I think the Gamecube is a niche of it's own, with some cool stuff about it. I think the PS2 is pretty run-of-the-mill for a console.

If I cared to get one, I'd probably get an Xbox. I hear I'd have to throw the controllers out, and buy some real ones. I'd need a Gameshark or something to go with it.

I'm mostly glad I don't need an Xbox. Wait. No. I'm really glad I don't need an Xbox.

Well, I'm a Nintendo person - so I own a Gamecube. I really couldn't tell you the last time I played it...
But Gamecube probably is the best out of them. Nintendo needs to be more versitile about what genres it does.

No big surprise here; PS2 is leading, with X-Box being second. Have to say that Nintendo's current line with games has hurt its reputation -even here. (And I bet Crystal Chronicles won't save it, since it looks just like one of those children games  )

The last console I bought was a SNES. If I bought one now it would be an X-Box as they can be modded to play PS2 games and have hard drives installed.
Having said that the Game Cube has some pretty good games (Zelda, Metroid Prime etc.) but appart from that I feel that it is a bit ordinary.

My science teacher last year had a gamecube with a few hundred pirated games that he bought of e-bay and he reckons that it was the way to go.

Personally, I really like the x-box and if I have a choice of buying a game for it, or the same game on the PC, I'll buy the X-box version.

I have both GC and PS2.
The game selection and the controller is better to PS2 so it has my vote.
I´m planning on buying an Xbox just for the sake of having one though.

How can a game be better on console, unless of corse your pc doesn't have better sysetem specs than the console. With a pc game you can have access to mods, patches, maps etc. and are able to tweak the games as well. If you are that intent on using a controller you can buy uber-ergonomic ones for not much cash as well.

PS2 for me also. Being a huge Anime fan, it has so many anime stlyed games on it. Also it's huge selection, and it has some very promising looking games coming out soon too. Not to mention you can play all the old Final Fantasies on it! :D
Though I'd be tempted to pick the x-box just because "Fable" is coming out on it soon. Man that game looks good...

Well I've always been a Nintendo fan in the past so although X-Box may be more versatile, I'd probably go with Game c
    Cube.

Also I could be wrong but I seem to recall that when they released the N64 they also had a lot of kids games coming out at the initial release, and after they had the kiddies happy with just a few games from them, something which would actually keep them happy for a long time, since kids are easier entertained, before pumping out a plethora, of mature type games.

Like I said this was going back around 7-8 years ago so I may forget, and I'm not really that big on consoles anymore, and have not been keeping track of games, or how long ago the consoles were released, though the X-Box could quite easily be the future of internet gaming, not that this is a bad thing or anything, it would just take some time to get used to from the PC gamers out there.

I've never liked Nintendo, except for the 64 system. But, they still release too many youth oriented games. I do like th elatest Bond game, though, and there's significant cross over so there's plenty of games for all.

I used to play PC games quite a bit, then I bought an X-Box right when they came out. I have no opinion on MS, good or bad. Business is business. Did you know MS considered buying out Nintendo when they were developing the X-Box? Interesting. Anyway, I thought I made a mistake over the course of the first year with the 'Box, but now there are more and better games to play, not to mention some really good exclusive games. I don't play PC games much anymore, probably because a gaming environment where my TV is is infinitely more comfortable than where my computer is.

Sony will probably keep the lead. The games library is huge. I was never interested in it, and everyone already has one anyway, so why do I need one? I find it interesting, though that many of my friends with PS2's all want to buy an X-Box now after playing certain games on it. But, whatever, I'm not crazy passionate/loyal about any of this stuff.
