I get the impression from the general tone of the question that you would not be able to shape hell any more than the ruler of the Sahara can shape it. I'd also like to remind everyone that most if not all of us (and I'm guessing all) serve someone or another, or many people, in this life already. Right there, I think serving only one person would be an improvement. Add that He is, by definition omnipotent, thus not really needing us to DO anything, and serving in heaven sounds pretty good.

Of course, the origin of the question comes from John Dunne's (sp?) Paradise Lost, asked by Satan himself, so the question is basically, would you rather be an angel (literally) or the Devil (literally). In the Bible, angel's are described as awefully cool sounding, with bronzed skin and flaming swords and destroying whole cities singlehandedly, whereas the Devil is just 'tempt people and lie to them and be ugly', so again I would have to say Heaven, though I'd prefer humanity over either one.

Paradise Lost was written by John Milton.
