...or be a specialist mage, and make sure you try to memorize spells from that school.

You get +15% to succeed at spells from your specialty school, but -15% to spells from other schools. Wild Mages are exempt from this rule, IIRC.

Uh, guys? It is called a 'Potion of Intelligence', and it stacks. Get your intelligence high enough, and it will give you almost 100 percent chance to memorize. For some reason the game always has a 1% chance of failure, same as pick pocketing.

    @ Harbourboy

In case you missed it, what we do when we don't want to buy scrolls from shops it we chug some 'Potions of Master Thievery' or 'Potions of Perception' (can't remember if the last one effects pickpocketing though), then we go to a store keep that sells scrolls, and we steal them. Our high pickpocket skills allow us to do this more and get caught less.

    7 digit numbers involved... :D

I'm a pack-rat, what can I say? And I sell everything I acquire, except for what I have equipped.

Since no one jumped on this, I'll take care of it. Potions of Perception add 20 to several skills, but not pick pocketing. Only Potions of Master Thievery do that (at a nice 40 point increase).

And when I said "get your intelligence over 18," I meant by using potions, Jaguar.
