3 computers:
- 486 DX2 66Mhz: out of order
- Pentium 2 333Mhz
- Pentium 3 500Mhz

The P3 isn't mine, a friend of mine is "storing" it in my house. Since it's the best of the 3 I don't mind

The P2 and the P3 are connected through a LAN, just because I could easily do it. And besides it allows my parents to pretend they're playing a network game of Spider Solitaire

The P2 is a Compaq, and since then I vowed never to buy a branded PC ever again. So expensive, and needlessly so.

 

I have three jacked in and one being unplugged.

The jacked in's proccessors are:
233Mhz(The one I always use)
233Mhz
486 66MHz

My father got an 1.8GHz and my mother got three computers:
1.4GHz
2.4GHz Laptop
90MHz

My oldest brother got one computer, a 2.4GHz, and my other, older brother got a 2.6GHz Laptop and a 633MHz Laptop that actually is my father's.

My stepbrother got a 2GHz Laptop, a 2.8GHz and an old 633MHz that he practically never use, but it's plugged in anyway.

Not to forget the 333MHz that we use as Server.
At all, my 'family' have 14, and of them, 5 is being constantly plugged in into the LAN at all times., and of most, 8 of them is plugged in to the network.

 

The high computer count may seem like everyones rich, but i've got to wonder. Because its 2004, a lot of people with one computer would have upgraded at least once since the mid 90's. If people are packrats(like me), then they probably have the older computers lying around somewhere. Thus, 2 or even 3 computers could be kept in a normal, one computer, home. Besides, for the packrat type, a lot of the older P1 100's and the like can be obtained free . Both my brothers and my laptops are P90's, and we got them for nothing. They're blocky, archaic suckers with an actual mouse ball used for the mouse scroller, but they work well enough (mine has duct-tape holding together its screen... mmm, classy ).

/me is shocked at how many pc's you people have in the house.

Where do you people keep all those machines? Our house isn't particularly small, but I don't see it housing more than 5 pc's (desktops) in good conditions. Of course it's different for students that live in rooms. in my building there are about 13 pc's (laptops and desktops alike). One for each person and the informatics people have a nice Dell Laptop from uni (lucky bastards).

Now, at home we've got only three.

My 3.2 GHZ laptop (taking that one with me when I go home in the weekends.)
My brother's 3.0 GHZ Desktop
The family computer (but actually only used by me) a p III 500 something.

Here it's all junk. One is a 286, another is a 486, the rest are Pentium II to Celeron between 350 and 800, one is Cel 1.6 Ghz and mine is Cel 2.4 Ghz. There's an XT motherboard & processor somewhere around. Heck, I even have a 5.25'' floppy drive in this room, and an I/O card (for plugging mouse and other such novelties). Somewhere in some box should be a bag full of Trident SVGA memory chips. And lots of old 1-2 MB GFX cards. A couple of ancient sound adapters, as well, or Novell/Anthem network cards from 1990 (ISA slot, of course). A 256 shades of grey VGA monitor, an SVGA one, two old (teen) 14'' colour monitors. Not like my 15'' isn't an old trash.

And lots of cables. Lots.

I said one though I still have parts of my first computer in the loft - by parts I mean the case with the motherboard and processor, and the floppy drive. Maybe a sound card as well. The rest of the stuff has either gone to friends (cd-drive and old monitor) or is in my new computer - like my backup hard drive (wedged into a floppy bay).

 

Just a month ago I had 4, now, I have (me) none, I just brought my friend with me: a Quantum Fireball, with all my games and cd images; but my girfriend has a Presario 2500 P4 and by now it belongs to me, she uses another one, an old P 133 with 32 ram and win95, but for what she does it's ok.

 

One here, but should have a new one in a few weeks...
