    To Ironhawk Skylord :

You are subtile enough, :thumb: but ...
Dont worry, see the Poll and THINK. There is NO closure date indicated. Then YOUR departure will NOT be so imminent.
    Be prepared, however.
All of you must be gathering, first ; then ONE plane shifting travel will be throwed.
    :outta:

No so voice, there. You will be free.
But fright faster gather a party that sense of order ... :mommy:

    • Yes, the REAL Viconia in REAL Sword Coast is nearer the sexy type of BG2, (because of an astral archetypal resonance phenomena).
You are in luck ! And in fact, real Viconia is more neutral that neutral evil.
    • Dont frolick anymore in bush, there are several clean etablishments in Beregost. And your Aloe Vera Balm can have a other use (if you have intelligence = 13 or more, — in fact there is the case ! — , you know about what i am telling). :hahaerr:

    — Dont think anymore, Kuemper, and go to the poll !

    — Ironhawk Skylord, your skeetch above with the two wardens is a really funny one ... Bravo ! Really. :thumb:

( however, one more time, i remember you that you will hear NO voices "off" in the Heavens when you will be at Beregost. Except, sure, if you turn TRULY mad !
... Even then, there is NO insane asylums in Sword Coast : only in Amn, in far South, there is at least the BG2 island that allbody knows. But near Baldur's Gate City, insane guys are looked at with pity, and left free ; OK, if they are violent they are sometimes killed ...) :)

Can't vote. I would be heavily negative but not because of the reasons you posted. There's no way I'm leaving my family for 7 years for anything.

Same as dmc. Although given the options provided, no I'm not overly keen on seeing/fighting/potentially being eaten by giant spiders.

    To DMC and Adeth :

... I see your position, and, if you have the energy to read all the mails above (as I advice you to do !), you will ascertain that you are NOT the first to think to your family, be reassured !

... Well, it is possible that some family members will follow you in adventure, but clearly, it is not the most probable.
To my shame, i confess that i have not thinked to that sort of obstacle. :o
[ No egoism here : i love my Isabelle :) but i no-consciously know that she would follow me at Beregost for seven years, if i was going there ! ]

Since i am NOT be able to add a option to the poll, therefore i ask you to make an effort of imagination and assume that the Mage do an exception for the persons with a family :
after the 7 years have elapsed, you are SENT BACK to Terra ONE MINUTE AFTER you depart from your world.

Then you can vote, now ! ;)

[ Since we speak altruism, i find that no many are overpoweringly concerned by the pain of monsters in the poll ! ] :shame:

    @Cal Yhringlor:

Hmmm... Real Viconia does sound interesting...

Glad you liked my sketch :)

    No asylums? Great!

I could imagine how they would treat me there:

Warden: "Rise and shine new guy! You are having group therapy sessions today!"

    ME: "Huh? Group Therapy?"

Warden: "Oh yes, we has a nice group for you. Really well adjusted."

    ME: "Who's in it?"

Warden: "Oh, there is Well-Adjusted Al, Yakman, Xan, then there is Tiax and Xzar, Noober, Mad Arcand, Maple Willow Aspen, and.. oh yes! Minsc!

ME: "Oh.. great... :( Who's leading the sessions?"

Warden: "Oh you like her, she is nice. Very caring, she was once a priest you know. One can always tell."

ME: "Okay then. What's her name?"

    Warden: "Melissan"

ME: "Errrhm.... Isn't there any other therapy options?"

Warden: "Why yes. You can get shock therapy."

    ME: "Shock therapy?"

Warden: "Yes. We have a really competent mage from down south. He's a master with lightning. He sometimes treat several patients at the same time! He calls it chain lightning therapy."

    ME: "What's his name?"

    Warden: "Irenicus."

ME: "Ehhh.. Don't I have any other options?"

Warden: "Not unless you would like a lobotomy."

ME: "*Sigh* That actually doesn't sound too bad. Do you have a good surgeon here?"

Warden: "Oh yes! The best! On a good day that is."

    ME: "On a good day?"

Warden: "Yes. On a bad day he tend to forget he once was a warrior and I tell you, a Deathbringer assault, even with a scalpel, is a mess!"

ME: "Deathbringer assault? What's his name?"

Warden: "Yes, what was it? Big guy, tall as a tree.... Oh yeah Sarevok! That was the name."

    ME: "Hmmm.... aaaarrrrgh!"

For Kuemper, dmc, & EVERYBODY :
    :( :( :( :nono:
    — I emphasise that little sentences in the poll are shown only for SAMPLES, or FUN, or ATMOSPHERE !
The TRUE target of the poll is to decide among :
    • 3 positive reacts (from the most yo the least)
    • 3 neutral ansvers (slightly positive to negative)
    • 3 negative replies (weakly to fully).
    — Therefore, ANYBODY can be able to vote !

    For Ironhawk Skylord :

Great effort again, friend ! ... But if i know all characters of Sword Coast lands, i have perhaps holes in memory. In your list of nuts :
Iknow every head, except that I dont remember exactly who is Yackman, and, later, Melissan.
Be kind enough to remind me where those two NPC live, usually, on the map !

I also find that to put in the group the poor amadou-haired (and combustible-tempered !) Maple Willow Aspen is not very fair ... Advice her to put on an official asking for name changing is perhaps more efficient that group therapy ! ...
Poor girl. She is only a victim. Nice victim, by the way, (even if i prefer this large blonde cow : Branwen ...)*
    *[ bright-clad in vibrant-pink colours ! ]

Note : I am a little surprised that for surgeon, you havn't chosen THE Surgeon, ( sinister in his black robes, whose real identity was, recently, heavily debated with SilverShield and others, in this same forum, at end of the topic : "Things that I never know ..." )

    @Cal Yhringlor:

    Thanks :)

Yakman and Melissan is from BG2 ToB.
Maybe not so prober to use them in this context but I just thought it would be funny. (at least for me that is) :)

Actually I find Maple Willow Aspens reaction very neurotic. I mean she has heard all the jokes so she should be able to just shrug it off, but she abuse the PC before he even have said anything. It is very funny and a good comic relief. But it would of course be easier for her to change her name in stead of group therapy sessions. Then again.. perhaps she is in need of anger management :D

But nice victim, I agree :) Then again Branwen is, as you mention it, more interesting. At least for those of us who prefer large blonde cows ;)

I didn't actually think of the Surgeon since he is very beneficial for the party when you meet him. He actually heals people. That's nice. :) I don't think lobotomy quite goes in to that category :D

I must say that the idea of no pollution, no overpopulation, and few grey zones between good and evil is very tempting...

Seven years? Well.. they go fast don't they? ;)

Ummm I would LOVE IT! :D

It would be annoying because of the 2e rules, because you say we HAVE to be human and therefore no multi

    I would've loved to be a mage/thief ...

[IMG] For once, i insist on the fact that since YOU are human, SilverShield, YOU will be THE SAME HUMAN, the same PERSON after you instant-travel in Sword Coast.

    — YOUR height, weight, abilities, YOUR strenght, YOUR wisdom, YOUR intelligence, and even your basic start-clothes !
YOU are human, therefore you have an only choice, if you continue to stick to your preferences :

    1) be an human mage (or mage-specialist) ;
    2) be a human thief ;
    3) be a human of any class except paladin, and, if you are always alive some levels later, then begin thief, or more probably mage, as SECOND CLASS. :)

... But you never will be multi-classed, since YOU are not demi-human. Have you the hair of a hobbit on your feet ? No. Have you the face and ears of an elf ? No. Etc ! ... :alien: ;)

Cal, take a seat and have some dip. I'm not voting because the "examples" you provided are so over-the-top that they make my skin crawl. Reguardless of whether I agree or disagree, I'm not contaminating my response with the attitude of Kelly Ripa on speed.

Guess what? I can vote in USA elections, but I choose not to.

Would I leave reality for 7 years to go to a place where human nature and motivations are so plainly spelled out as to be divided into simplistic, easily-understoond alignments?

Would I leave for a place where there were creatures all over the place that were clearly monsters, which, when fought and killed, would clearly make me a hero, rather than an oppressor, an exploiter, or a bully? And they made me stronger and richer for having done so?

Would I leave for a place where successful romantic relationships could be boiled down to simply choosing one of 3 dialogue options?

    Where do I sign up?

Nothing ties me to this life, so yeah, I'd definitively go, and would never turn back.

*EDIT* I'd definitively be a Ranger. Too bad this ain't 3rd ed, otherwise I'd take rogue levels too.

Meh, I might be inclined to have a peek, but in here I can fool myself into thinking that I could make a difference. That'd be pretty much harder with my stats in Sword Coast, with all the magic, fates, prophesies and deities.

But sure it'd be a great adventure, getting killed by a few kobolds any given day.

I'd be a druid, of course.

    er... yes. :shake:

Anyway, thinking about the class, Paladin seems to be out of the picture. Cleric would be hard too.

That leaves only a few possibilities...

Ranger? Not that much into survival, no. Druid? I like nature but I'm not a veggie and all the restrictions about metal.

So, Thief? I don't have the skills and I couldn't steal anyway.

That leaves me with Fighter, Mage and Bard.

Mage means I would have trained for years to learn and practice magic. I'm no Harry Potter so forget it. I'd rather be a Sorcerer (but I'm afraid my spell selection would suck a lot).

Bard would be awesome, but I'm not sure I have the skills and the CHA. It's too bad singing in the shower or at karaoke bars don't make a bard out of someone.

Fighter is the dumbest class. Level one, pick up a club and try to find a diseased gibberling to pummel to death. Well at least I'd got to wear a leather armour.

I'd have to find some tomes to raise my INT to 17 if I ever wanted to dual into Mage... ;)

I doubt that I can bring myself to kill (orcs, other adventurers, bandits and whatnot) even if it was for the sake very shiny treasure, so no.

And not to mention, since it would be based on my actual stats, I'd be wiped in no time. Probably by a goblin.

I guess so, yes. 7 years is a fair time, but is hardly forever. Besides, unlike Iku-Turso, I don't feel like I'm making all that much difference here.
