    @David w, would I have possibly included 'beauty' in my question if I was talking about BG2? What kind of an idiot do you take me for? I extend the curtesy that those I post to are at least as intelligent as I am - please give me the same respect and don't take me for an idiot.

    For David: Of the three attribute groups of 'brains', 'brawn' and 'beauty', which one do you think is 'best' for 'success' in a D&D-like fantasy world if you could only have one of them in the manner that you cannot be said to have brains or beauty if you choose brawn, you cannot be said to have brawn or beauty if you choose brains, etc. You can define 'best' and 'success' according to your own tastes. This is a hypothetical question so you needn't confuse yourself with concepts of probability.

    Well then if I lived in a D&D-like world, I would pick brains without hesitation. I don't think I would ever survive without quick wits. Strength and charisma are great and all, but they are as likely to get you in trouble than out of trouble, whereas quick thinking will help you to get out of any situation.

    I've chosen brains, mostly for all the reasons stated above.
    If it were a choice though, i'd rather have chosen a mix of all three. Nothing great about knowing something others dont if you cant do it. Be it because of physical weakness of excessive ugliness. Sure you can hire some other people, but they have some other wishes you may not know about - cant really trust some hirelings. Besides you dont get as much XP as if you would've done it all alone. ;)

    @keldor
    You just love to argue, dont you? Why dont you leave it alone, since it was in the first place a mistake on your part. Naturaly people think that the topic is about ToB, if its in ToB forum. :doh:
    Offending others with low-intelligence, while the mistake is yours isnt the way to go either. It is also littering the topic, so i suggest you leave it alone now.

    [IMG] In a generic fantasy setting beauty ( and by extension personality) would be the most useful. Its not about what you know, it's about who you know! If you could ingratiate yourself with the rich and powerful you could live the life of riley without having to risk so much as a papercut. Those high STR fighters getting killed by traps and high INT mages being squashed by giants have the hard life while you take it easy, and live it up!

    Brawn. Whatever you don't have, you can take by force.

    As for the smart and pretty ones, a couple rights and a left or two will take both of those away.

    Well if going by this:
    I'd say brains, considering a score of 3 in Int. is hardly capable of speech, let alone thought! And what's the point of having anything eles if you can't think?

    If you're brainy, you can run circles aorund people and have them do the dirty stuff for you, and in case you're butt-ugly, have soimeone pretty fronting for you.

    Of course, if you're pretty, you can charm the brawny/brainy people to do things for you.

    But I'd go for brainy, just because. :p
