    :confused: Are you implying that you think marines are more intelligent than the population at large? I can assure you that the marines are not composed of the most intelligent group of Americans. The are considered the premier warfighter of the five major service branches.

    Marines are "The Brave". Brave doesn't necessarliy relate to intelligence. Many are gung-ho, going in headfirst types. It's almost a job requirement for them.

    As far as I'm aware, "certain circles" is specifically the military itself. As I work for the military, I guess I have become indoctrinated.

    I guess the bottom line is that, regardless of 'intelligence' (I still wonder how we define that ... in a fight, I'd take a guy with good common sense on my side over a brainiac any day), a limited sample of marines does not equal all marines, nor does the limited sample of marines or all marines equal all Americans. So saying that you met a few marines who were gung-ho does not mean that all Americans are gun-happy maniacs.

    It probably doesn't have much of an opinion at all -- although that depends a great deal on his corpse's grasp of the English language. In Arabic, they refer to members of all the various services as "Jundi," so it may never have occurred to Bin Laden's corpse that we would differentiate between the services where Arabs do not.
