I used SK to switch a human to a dwarf once (I think he was a sorcerer), and I got the racial save bonus only after levelling up.

 Typo/brain fart; I meant Berserker/Thief, which is possible. Or you could give him Barbarian Rage 1/day if you think that Berserker Enrage is too cheesy.

I just used some of the default portraits from IWD2 for my IWD2 OotS party. There's one that practically *is* Belkar, imo, and others that fit well enough, too. I'm sure that the IWD2 portraits are available in BG2 format somewhere on SP.

Tja, Baba probably works best... But missing Stealth is a shame. :bad: Nevermind... Feel the fury!

I discovered OotS only a few days ago, but it's been a big hit to my productivity :shake:
Considering themed parties are quite common around here I was wondering when someone would get around to an OotS party :)

I think an IWD2 game would fit much more with the general OotS feel, and not just because of the ruleset. I think the IWD2 story is much more amenable to OotS treatment than the BG2 one.

If you stick with BG2, I think the best fit for Belkar is Stalker. Since this is not possible, a F/T is the second best option. It's quite obvious to me he must have backstab, even though his stealth skills fail often in the comics. Just read the strips: "stab stab stab" :D

V is definitely "Neutral" gender. I'd say the female portrait with the feminine-sounding voice set is perfect ;)

If you want stats to reflect the "real" characters, you'll have to give good INT and medium WIS to Roy, and send both to the abyss for Elan. The problem is that Elan will then have very few spells he can scribe in his book (another reason I argue for IWD2 - it's quite clear Elan has good CHA and low INT)

Roy should be a straight fighter IMO, no messing around. Definitely two-handed weapon style (exclusively 2H swords too). While he does go berserk once, it's more of a plot thread than an ability. After all he does this just once in over 300 stripes... not enough to justify making him a Beserker.

I can see Belkar dual-wielding daggers, or *maybe* short swords. There are no rapiers in BG2, so I suppose Elan would get a short sword too. Durkon (pure Cleric IMO, or Lathander kit, although that's a bit extreme) gets a hammer (obviously) and a shield (I suppose from a powergaming perspective he should get Crom, but I think it fits more to give him that undead-protecting hammer from ToB)

I don't think I've ever seen V wield a weapon in the comic... I guess you could give "it" darts for the fun of it.

I did a look at the website and Rich stated (typed) that OotS et. al. is copyrighted and not permissable for use unless he says okay.

    Missile weapons?
    Haley - shortbows
    Belkar - daggers or nothing?
    Roy - ?
    Durkon - sling
    V - nothing?

Belkar's missile weapon: Belkar should definitely be throwing daggers; the poisoned ones you can buy from various vendors would be best. He throws daggers a lot in his fight with Miko, and is apparently quite good at it, to the point of being able to make the hilt hit instead of the blade when he wants to wake her up.

Elan's INT: Garrick seems of similar intelligence (or lack thereof), and has 13 INT. I think you could get away with 14 or 15 with a WIS of 3 for Elan.

V's weapon: Nothing until you can get something specifically suited to her, like the SotM. Or, you could equip her only with things that do not show up on the avatar or paperdoll, like darts.

Elan's weapon: This is another thing that makes me lean toward IWD1; having a harp or lute in the off-hand. But for BG2, as I said before, I think he should use the short swords that have spells with them, like Ilbratha. Missile weapon gets complicated, since he's usually singing, but I'd give him a crossbow just because I like bards with comically oversized weapons. Not that he'll be using it anyway, but just to give him something in case it's really needed.

Sorry, look back at the episode 1 -- that's his MAIN HAND weapon. He duals daggers. A halfling can't use a katana in one hand, it's a two handed weapon for them. Besides, Belkar is a dex based warrior (obviously, he has low strength), hence he would have weapon finesse. For a halfling that would mean AT MOST a short sword and dagger.

Oh yeah, don't forget clubs for Roy. Although it WAS a BIG piece of wood, so perhaps staves is okay.

It's difficult enough doing this with 2e. Dex based fighters are pretty mute in this game, so Belkar has a decent strength along with his 19 dex. Besides, couldn't a magical weapon shrink to fit the hand of the wielder? Magic armor will do so, so...?

Vaarsuvius: I have identified this weapon. It is the famed Celestial Fury katana.
    Elan: Oooh, pretty!
Belkar: Back off, blondie! This one's all mine!
