    Hi

I am about to start a new game and was hoping any of you could please advise me which mods I should add, to suit my game and make it more interesting and exciting, and whether I need a patch or not.

I plan to play as a thief, wood elf most probably, and would like a game that is less combat-oriented but more about sneaking around, emptying pockets, shoplifting etc.

I was looking around but the mod list is HUGE, but as I have little/no experience with this game (BG is more up my alley, although I liked Morrowind too) so it is hard to know which ones I should choose, so hopefully you guys can guide me :)

    Regards,
    Marius

There are many mods available. It depends on what you want. Tweaks to game play? Combat can be tweakedd by several mods. Overhauls? There are Quest mods? There are quite a few. Graphic changes? Again there are a lot.

I believe there is a thread here that lists some recommended mods. You have many choices depending on what you want. Check out TESNexus, read the discription of any mods that interest you and the comments.

Nakia has it covered. I would add that you may want to take along a companion or two, like from the CM Partners mods. Although there is almost no real interaction, (at least that I've seen) they are still very useful.

Thanks for adding that, Chandos. Companions are very useful especially if you add an overhaul that makes the fighting more difficult or any mod that unlevels enemies.

Besides the mods on which I have posted information I would recommend Living Economy which makes the vendors dynamic and more Morrowindish. Imperial City Unique Districts adds a great deal to the city without conflicting with any mods...unless the change the exterior of the city. I'm using it with OMG without any problem.

The problem with recommending mods is that likes and dislikes vary so greatly. Plus the list would go on and on and....

I played Assassins of various races, and I enjoyed it a lot. Skulking in the shadows and sending an arrow flying straight in the skull of a poor unsuspecting enemy is just too much fun. And how could I forget poison? So many possible effects... and hey, let's not forget Mysticism - two words: Soul Trap.

There is also one Dark Brotherhood quest that made me giddy like nobody's buisness.
