If I've installed BGII by CD, rather than an online download, do I have a directory and override folder, and if so, how do I locate it? All the modding resources I've looked at seem to assume that I'll already know where it is, but I haven't had any luck finding it.

I'd rather not have to bother anyone with such a basic question, but I haven't found any sort of FAQ or instruction file which explains this. Maybe I'm just more clueless than everyone else attempt to apply mods?

[IMG] Presuming it's Windows it's in Programme Files -> Black Isle and the directory is BGII - SoA. The Override folder is in there.

If you're using Vista it might be in Programme Files (x86) if you're unfamiliar with exploring data on your hard drive you may want to uninstall the game and reinstall it in a simpler directory (For example C:bad:Black Isle\BGII - SoA) as the (x86) folder has certain properties that can make file manipulation a pain in the arse.

That is caused by UAC (User Account Control).
There are two ways to cope.
One, turn off UAC, do what you need to do, then turn it back on. Toggling UAC requires a restart.

Click start -> All Programs -> Accessories
    right click on "Windows Explorer"
    Choose "Run As Administrator"

Use THIS explorer window to open the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder and make the changes.

Alternately, you can type "windows explorer" or just "explorer" into the search box, right click on the Windows Explorer (NOT "Internet Explorer" or "Games Explorer"), and "run as administrator".

Either method bypasses the special protections of UAC. I forget, but you might need to open BOTH windows using elevated privileges when copying to the Program Files directory. That is easily done, just repeat the step to open Explorer as an admin.
