Ach, I'm already busy working on my novel, which I started a few months ago. Damnation.

Okay, here's what I'll do. I've already entered a national short story writing competition, and have no clue what to write. But I'll do it all through November.

Not quite NaNoWriMo, but possibly the best I can do.

Anyway, I've still got a month to think of a novel idea, so maybe I'll change my mind.

Welll... I AM doing thgat but it's a cliche that EWvery Eomance Novel Needs Two Plots: one ythat is internal, between the hero and the heroiner, charts their relationshuip progres so to say, and one that is external and gives the book some backbone :p

Time to put this back to the top of the page now that we draw near to November...

My Spanish Civil War idea is under threat from a soft science fiction idea. Not sure which way to go :(

I just decided that MC2 is going to get into astrology. :)

Planning is good. I've removed much unnecessary complexity from my tale. THe basic story will be the same, but I've removed some unnecessary baggage that would have bogged it down in silliness - I hope I didn't damage my chances of making word count by doing so. ;) While I aspire to magical realism, I think I'll end up with an urban fantasy piece.

I ditched my original idea because the plot that I gained drowned out the original purpose of the story *cough* so now, I am writing something vaguely Chick Lit-esque; lots of shoes, diaries and a little re-writing of history by making Venice a soveirgn state....

I still don't really have any ideas, except this vague fantasy one is forming. I could work in many characters and character types I've been thinking about, especially the young mageling Dalin Magnus Marsh.

That name has a good ring to it.

W00t! I have an idea that I think I'll use.

Set in the same world as last years (high fantasy with 'magicalness'/post-fantasy a few thousand years onward). This time I'll be setting it in three different time periods.

The only downside - I need to read some of last years NaNo to make it coherent :( I'll also need to blatently contradict some of it ... and am wondering whether to use some characters from 04's as well...

Thought of this last night: For those of you who have started your novel, what is the first word? Mine, saddly, is the almighty 'the'. Anyone else?

**** **** **** **** ****. I've gotten 1300-ish words in and realised that this isn't really the story I feel like writing - I want to write about Spain :( That means doing nasty historical research and stuff (some of which I have, but still) - and restarting...

Hmm, well, there's nothing against bull****ting this I suppose. Guess I'll add a line: 'Meanwhile, in 1936 Spain'...

Edit: Eh, I can already see this not working :( Screwed.

Edit2: Argh! And now I feel like going bleak modern! Why? Why!

I'm up to 1,517 words in less than twelve hours, some of which was spent sleeping and working and tending to the kids and stuff. Not too bad. I have no inclination to write anything other that the story I set out to write, too. I've even had some last-minute thoughts that will improve things. :) Whee! I hope this momentum lasts - no, I don't expect it to, but I can still hope.

@Lantus: I'll give you my whole fist sentence, how's that?

"Yo, Buddy, d'you need a ride?"
