    They might've but that wasn't it.

    Well, here's a near synopsis:

    'Bad' spy is killing off America's intelligence operatives. One of the survivors resorts to making use of ordinary civilians with appropriate skills (costumery, acting, electronics) in order to conduct a discrediting campaign against this assassin agent with regards to his superiors - in the hopes THEY'LL remove him from the field, thus removing the threat to the Free World's intelligence organizations.

    Some of the 'recruits' were regular hires (recurring roles), but a fair portion of the 'team' would be one-time assignments before going back to their normal lives (one-episode cameos).

    No, sorry - you're dancing all around this show, but you probably were watching Simon MacCorkindale in Manimal over on NBC when this was on ABC the same season (I can't remember the actual schedules...)

    Now I'm starting to feel bad for over-doing the obscurity. :(

    Alright - last hint:

    Lavender was the good-guy boss, seeking to bring down Wolfen (played by Oliver Reed, no less!)

    The cast included other such luminaries as Ernest Borgnine, Richard Roundtree, Kirstie Alley, Cybill Shepard and Greg Evigan.

    If no one gets this by 8am NDT (gmt-3.3h) I'm gonna update and release it to the first IJA. *sigh*

    EDIT: Right. The show was Masquerade; Produced by Glen Larson for ABC in the '83-'84 season, and didn't get picked up.
