    Ah... Still don't understand the measuring cup reference. I managed to see the first episode, and maybe two since.

    This program stared little pink aliens who have also made a brief appearance in a Dr. Who episode.

    It also gave rise to the name of a Scottish punk/indie/alternative rock band from the late 80's, early 90's.

    The clangers didn't first appear in Dr. Who, but the TV show appeared in an episode with the Master (who approved)

    Kate, Jack, Michael and Walt, Locke, et. al., owe a lot to the cast of this show, especially when it comes to psuedo-primitive ingenuity.

    Yes, you have to figure out the first show I'm referring to in order to answer the question, which is the second! Bonus points if you list both, although only the second will be sufficient. :p
