You mean the oven treatement? Yeah, it's pretty damn effective. I sometimes buy "dead" phones on eBay and bring them back from the dead using that trick.

Yeah, the oven treatment. I gave her all the advice I could find in this thread but that was as far as she had to take it. Funny thing is we have no idea how long it was in the water.

Phones and water have never been kind to me. Lost my first phone from falling in a river. Second and third died while kayaking. Forth drowned in a wheelbarrow when a waterbomb (or 5) were thrown in it. Fifth, another river. And my latest one went through the wash. The salesman at the phone store looked at me very strange when I asked for a waterproof phone.

There is an Ericsson (not Sony Ericsson) model, that is very hard to find these days, that is completely waterproof and quite shockproof.

Also, the Nokia 5500 Sport apparently can handle (some) water. Or you could just get a Nokia 1100, wrap it in plastic, and use the oven treatment (be sure to take the plastic off. :p ) when it gets full of water.

EDIT: Apparently the specific model is r250 pro.

Also the Nokia 5140 and 5140i are somewhat water- and shockproof. I have a 5140i and tested it (accidentally). It easily survived a quick drop into water without any problems. I have also rinsed it (carefully) with water a few times. I would not want to leave it for longer than a few seconds under water though.

I thought of the 5140i, but it's not actually waterproof. It can handle some water, but so can a 3210.

Then again the 5140i has a compass and a torch, and apparently can handle a bit more than advertised. It might be good for a moving lifestyle, but it isn't 100% waterproof.

Seeing Rotku has lost 6 phones to water already, I'd suggest the r250 pro. :p

I saw an article regarding a Nokia tablet phone who was fully water-proof, but I have reasonable doubts it was a spoof. I'll try to find it, and will post it in RCPB if I find it.
