Nuh-uh! Every 2 hours an other DJ. Besides, this site is open 24 hours/day and 7 days/week. You won't get much sleep. Also, a DJ plays what the crowd wants to hear, so you'd have to keep an eye open to the line that says who is logged in. And that's where this thread comes in.

You see names listed among the logged-in persons, you play their kind of music. Everybody not stating their preference in this thread has no right to complain about the music played by the DJ.
So everybody who likes my prefered music: Post here!
    :p

Does this mean I'll have to stay logged in constantly to ensure decent music is being played? :p

Also, since I stated my preference, can I moan and bitch about the music the DJ plays until (s)he gives in and plays my stuff?

Various sorts of metal mostly and a few bits and pieces of rock. Gothic metal would probably be my favourite subgenre - not that I have an awful lot of it seeing that it's not all that easy to buy...

Power metal is funky - but I can't muster enough enthusiasm to go looking into it much further than Nightwish.

Progressive metal is nice - but nothing worth leaping for joy over most of the time...

I can find positive things in almost every genre, so I cannot name any favourite.

In short: I only listen to good music. ;)

    :) @ Decados:
Yes. But you'll have to post once every 30 minutes to proove that you're active at the time you're logged in. (that will cause some more spam and insomnia at the BoM, I bet.)

I'm not big about puting people in boxes, but I would hardly call John Lee Hooker Rhythm and Blues. JLH stayed much more to the blues roots than somebody like B.B. King. (I don't know about Taj Mahal; I've been meaning to look into him for a very long time, but never got around to it. Any recommendations?)

Alt Rock: Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Inme, HIM (maybe not Alt Rock, but I can't define them)

Post-Hardcore: Emanuel, Funeral For A Friend, Atreyu, Million Dead, Hell Is For Heroes, Dir En Grey (although they sound closer to proper hardcore).

Classic Rock: Blue Oyster Cult, Scorpions, AC/DC, Eric Clapton

Some metal of various types: Sonata Arctica, Within Temptation, Demons & Wizards

Also, AFI and (very far out from the other stuff) Trinití. Marvel.

Once again, people are making up all sorts of crazy ideas for musical genres, almost one for each artist. ("Don't call me Death Trip Blues! I'm Speed Acid Alt Blues! Get it right!")

I officially declare that there are only about six valid genres of music:
    - Rock (usually a band with guitars, usually write their own stuff)
    - Metal (same as rock, but with more emphasis on volume over understandability)
    - Classical (more focus on orchestral instruments than guitars)
    - Pop (more often solo artists who usually don't play instruments or write their own stuff)
    - Talking (includes the stuff that people call rap)
    - Electronic (anything created by pushing the auto rythmn buttons on a Yahama Home Organ)

I may be able to convinced that there are one or two other minor additional genres, but certainly not as many as some of you seem to claim.

And in which categories do blues and jazz fall? (Or are they the two 'minor' categories you mentioned?)

Oh yeah, everybody's just making up these genres. We all know they all really just sound exactly alike.

Post hardcore? No, they are self proclaimed Fashioncore (yeah, beats me too...)

I like metal, hardcore, and hard rock, with the occassional regular rock band in there. Some classic rock too.

    Favorite bands? Too many.

Blues is just rock, but with more complaining.

I might concede that Jazz could possibly be a missing category, although it could probably come under a wider genre of "Easy Listening" which would also include Dean Martin.

I thought jazz had a genre of its own?
