[IMG] Apparently I'm "unique" or at least on SP because no one else has suggested any of these:
BNL (Barenaked Ladies to those of you who aren't huge fans)
Moxy Fruvous (it's all about the lyrics)
    Dashboard Confessional
    John Mayer
    Enrique Iglesias
    Smash Mouth
    Bowling For Soup

And then I also like some oldies:
    Billy Joel
    Queen
    Eagles

And even some jazz like Dave Brubeck

But mostly if you looked through my cd case you find (other than every BNL cd ever) lots and lots of soundtracks :) Everything from John Williams and broadways to the soundtrack from Shrek. Also between me and my sibs we probably have all of the Disney cds... and a fair amount of VeggieTales too. Yay for soundtracks! :D

    dead composers:
-WAGNER (my fav from all times).

    old bands:
-Deep Purple (from their first albums - 'The book of Taliesyn', 'Deep Purple', 'Concerto for group and orchestra', 'Fireball', 'Machine Head' and from their new albums only 'Slaves and masters'). Anyway TBOT, DP and CFGAO are the best.
-Yes (I like almost all of their albums).
-Pink Floyd ('Piper at the gates of dawn', 'Ummagumma', 'A saurceful of secrets', 'Dark side of the moon' and some songs from 'More' - 'The nile song', 'Cirrus minor').
-Emerson, Lake and Palmer ('Emerson, Lake and Palmer', 'Trilogy', 'Tarkus', 'Brain salad surgery', 'Pictures at an exhibition', 'Works').
-Jethro Tull ('Thick as a brick' - especially).
-Uriah Heep (probably all of their albums after lyrics and titles, but I've only listened to 'Demons and wizards').
    -The Beatles (only 'Eleanor Rigby').

    new bands:
-Metallica (I hate 'St. Anger'. Anyway I like just a few songs from them, though they are copying 'Deep Purple' - see the 'Until it sleeps' video and the 'Deep Purple' album cover).
-Radiohead ('Hail to the thief' and 'Kid A' are my favs).
-Symphony X (I've listened only to 'The odyssey' and liked it).
    -Dream Theater.

My list would be four pages long, and I am too lazy to put it all down here. I have pretty eclectic tastes in music - everything from Gregorian Chant to Black Metal, from Hip-hop to Country/Western, from Jazz (true jazz, not just swing/big band) to Techno. Well, you get the picture.

I can list my all-time favorite band, however:

METALLICA (all Metallica - from their Demo to St Anger)

Can't stand bubble-gum pop, though - boy bands and britney spears make me queasy, and slightly uneasy.

YAY! I am not the only Rammstein fan here, who loves Rammstein and can spell the name.

And I like St. Anger. Okay, some songs ain't that good, but St. Anger itself and songs 5, 9, 10 and 11 are just fine.

    Here goes:

    Rammstein
    Linkin Park
    Sum 41
    Metallica
    Nirvana
    HIM
    Nickelback
    Offspring
    Bloodhound Gang
Eminem (yes, I know, stop looking like that)
[insert random list of good metal bands here]

Master of Nuhn, nice list! I love all the bands down to Morcheeba. You forgot (I think you'd like anyhow) A Forest Mighty Black, Thievery Corporation, Röyksopp, Red Snapper, Underground, Air, Télépopmusik, Herbalizer, and of course the almighty Kruder & Dorfmeister!

I also like lots of underground punk, like Knucklehead (in Calgary) and The Unseen, and the UK Subs (although they're not too underground). Rancid is my fav band (and therefore Operation Ivy). I really like the Dead Kennedeys, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards, Propagandhi (Canadian political band. Great name, eh?), Rage Against the Machine (though they're not punk) and the Casualties.

All the punk is political (even Rancid and Lars to some extent). I really hate all the bands like Blink 182, Simple Plan, Not By Choice, etc. singing about how they ****ed a chick (in a parking lot) and why it rocked. If not that then they're complaining about how their parents don't understand why they drink and smoke all day and swear too much.

I've got no problem if you like those bands. This isn't a personal attack or anything. I used to listen Blink all the time.

I'll not list every band I like, because that would take to much space and I can't remember every band I like right now...
I'll list some I've listened to last week or so...

    - Blur
    - Gorillaz

    - Dick Dale & his Del-tones
    - Beastie Boys
    - AC/DC
    - Breeders
    - Radiohead

and that was just last week...
and some hiphop, but that's just not something fot a thread about bands... and Beethoven

Well, I guess I could just copy Master of Nuhn's list. Add a pinch of weird synthesizer 80's stuff (don't ask me why) and a teaspoon of almost everything Mystra's Chosen added and you've got my list.

Well, spectacular. I get the feeling that Reorx (read a bit of Dragon Lance do we?) just wanted to write up their favourite bands. However, I did read through a couple of people and was surprised at the amount of people that claim to love Metallica old school. As long as we stand here and define old school as pre- Jason Newstead, I'm glad. However, if you refer to just their self titled album, please go back to your hole. /End Rant.

    Obvioulsy Metallica. Then:
    Mike Oldfield
    David Bowie
    The Beatles
    The Doors
    Jethro Tull
    Led Zepellin
    Pink Floyd
Slayer <- Metallica with death lyrics
    Lou Reed
    The Who
    Jimi Hendrix
    Yeah Yeah Yeah's
    The Sleepy Jackson
    Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
    The Datsuns

I forgot to add these to my list:
TOFOG (No, not just because Russell is their vocalist, I liked them way before I knew that bit)
    Cherry Poppin' Daddies
    Reel Big Fish
    Mighty Mighty Bosstones
    TISM

    Again, that's it for now
