    Not the ol' Deer Hunter, this one was more recent. Fact is there are 2 movies because one is a remake.

    The guy doing the stashing is not either of the main characters in the movie. The stashing happens at the end of the movie.

    This is ringing a bell -- I don't remember the title, but it was about some roommates who took on a new roomie and he died and there was a poopload of money in the dead guys room. The cover of the video showed a spiral staircase .... AAAAGGHHH! Someone help me out!

    EDIT: the movie I'm thinking about is Shallow Grave and I have been informed by a reliable source that it is not the correct movie. Sorry dudes.

    The stash is on a mountain, that the two main characters could not climb during the movie because of weather, even though they really wanted to because it was on their BUCKET LIST.
