    wow... I guess I killed this one.

    okay, some hintage before declaring a new one.

    The man in question was giving his "willing to wait" speech because the woman was having a hard time reconciling herself to what he did for a living. Another hint, this particular issue (his job) is a big part of the movie's main plot.

    Ok, if still no takers, I'll throw another one up.

    nope and nope. okay last giveaway hint time.

    the problem they are discussing in the scene, which is the man's job, is ALSO the title of the movie. narrows it down considerably I think.

    hmm, still no. i intended my phrasing to be a bit less obvious but it appears to be misleading everyone. the occupation in question is not an illegal one and only one person at any given time can hold this office. there. MUCH more obvious now :D
