If you go by that stance then Edwin's stats should have been a lot higher than what they turned out to be.

Dexterity is not the Stat I would have boosted on Jaheira anyway. Comparable or not. And there are fighters with lower dex than her in BG2.

Jaheira matched most anything statwise that Anomen had to throw out there for example just with her BG1 stats. In Pure SoA she outdoes him well. Many rave about her with ToB installed too.

And Minsc's stats do not really actually do anything to make him more impressive and comparable to Any of the other Warriors. Though I know many SoA/ToB players Rave about him as well. They seem to enjoy his repetative Dialogue and Hamster obsession.

1)Edwin doesn't need stats to be powerful, he just needs experience.

2)Many rave about Minsc because he's made for BG2. His racial enemy is vampire, he's specialized in Maces, and there's a great undead killing one. And you pick him up right away.

Actually no. That is another thing that has been changed about him. Which is the one thing that doesn't make him totally useless.

His Racial Enemy in BG1 is Gnoll's. Which is viable and fitting for BG1. the number of Vampire's in the game does make his racial enemy give him slightly more value though.

If they hadn't changed his racial enemy to give him some kind of value with it instead of another cheap and easy monster he wouldn't need the bonus with then I don't think anybody would play him more than a couple times.

My point is that Minsc is changed to be more useful in BG2. In BG1, his racial enemy is Gnolls because Dynaheir is being held by them.

As if the fact that they aren't throughout the entire game reguardless of Dynaheir doesn't lend weight to any of it at all.

What? Are you seriously trying to argue that Minsc's racial enemy of Gnoll is not because they whack him on the head and kidnap his witch Dynaheir?

Considering that Ranger's Racial enemies can't just change like that. Yes I am. the Racial Enemy is not something that a Ranger just picks or changes on Whim. The fact that your trying to argue that they can is utterly rediculous.

It's not like it goes away when his little SL to find her is done.

What a great post! I immediately sent an imported character to the training hall and picked up all five of them. (You're right; it is tricky, and took several tries.) Interesting dilemma: now what?
