Teekc, please understand what I mean. I do agree that it sux, but this is the way the game works. An unarmed attack or "fist" is treated by the game as if the character "was holding a fist as a weapon and wielding it". This is why the program "can't know" if it is unarmed or armed attacks. It is also proved in the fact that a mutli-classed monk has ruined BABs and no longer gets the Unarmed Attack BAB table if the BAB in the non-monk class goes over +1.

Somebody I read posted that they had their Rogue sneak attack the avatar of Xvim barehanded and did 60 bludgeoning damage! The game treats fists as weapons, not fists!

And again, I agree with you. It sux, I am not trying do defend the lameness of the game, but I am just trying to live with it... ;)

I don't understand what you guys are talking about. I haven't seen any boxing or kicking animations in this game. Even the monks in the monastery behave as if they had a dagger. Where did anyone see boxing or kicking in IWD2?

I just reloaded the monastery, made all my party fight with fists against the monks, and everybody, including the monastery monks, fight as if they were using a dagger. Did I miss something?

That is my point. i agree that fist act as a weapon and regonized by the program as a weapon.

Now, is crossbow a weapon? Is bow a weapon? Why they have different animation? Is two handed sword a weapon? Is long sword a weapon? Why they have different animation? Now why when come to fist they choose dagger animation instead of making fist animation for every races?

Now that you've mentioned that, again, fist as a weapon. Why they don't want or forget to put weapon focus for fists?

The monks that are training at the back of monastery has martial art animation. Just stand there for a while a watch them behave. Don't attack them.

    Am I blind?
I have any of my characters use their fists and they do exactly the same animation as the monks. That not a special animation, just the longsword or dagger animation.

Phew... you got me worried there for a moment..

Perhaps it's another patch "fix" that wasn't mentioned.

Quint, I was thinking of the monks in the 8 chambers. They do the whole martial arts show. At least they did for me.

Teekc. I suspect that they chose the "dagger" animation for fist, because it is "small" and because monks can multiclass. So the game can't know if the character, "is being a monk" or "being the other class(es)". That's my guess. Probably time restraints also limited it. Perhaps they did not suspect that "fanatics" like us would even notice...
