Livonya's mod is the only way to go. Follow the directions carefully for installing.

This mod tells me to turn auto-save off, but I have no clue on how to do it. It doesn't show up in the options menu.

    I found it at

    Options
    Game Options
    Preferences
You need to turn off the auto-save on map change.

By the way, I just started this game and it is starting to grow on me. It doesn't have some of the features that NWN had (and I sorely miss some of them), but the combat is really cool.

The combat is cool. What is not cool is the first town. Confusing quests, A HECK OF ALOT of running around, which is not fun when the map is enormous.

I never bother doing the quests in Hommlet and the pirate town. The rewards are never worth it and you'll get more xp by killing monsters. I only do the ones that allow you to travel to new areas on the maps.

    So... the real question is:

Even with official patches 1 & 2, and using the CoE patch and Livonia's patch, is this game even worth playing? IS it playable with all these patches? Are the quests fixed? Are some of the design flaws fixed up?

I read Caltrop's review of this game, and Im inches away from uninstalling the game and getting rid of the cd's... >_>

I know the game is based on a module that is perhaps a few years older than me - depending on when Gygax wrote it lol... but I think Black Isle could have definitely done a better job of this.

By the sound of this guys review Troika sounds like a developer studio staffed by kids fresh out of highschool with no idea what a PC game should be like. or even what D&D is... =\ Which is sad.

I spent 6 hours installing/uninstalling this game. Read ALL forum posts I could read here and on CO8 about the patches. Tried many possibilities: Official1 + Official2 + CO8 3.04 mod + Livonyas; Of1 + Of2 + Livonyas; Of+2 + Livonyas; CO8 + Lyvonias; etc. Even tried combinations with moebius temple.dll patch, but I still have problems. Especially:

1- Power Attack is still buyable at char creation with str 12
2- When I cast Magic Missile, it has -511 (!!!) targets.

Can't solve it. I am getting sad. :-(

All of the problems noted in this post, are easilly fixed, the solutions for them and a whole bunch of other stuff can be found on the Co8 forum www.co8.org

Shiningted has released a new mod - which includes new items, new spells, 3rd and 4th level spells for rangers and paladins, new quests and lot's more besides.

Shameless plug - I've added 2 versions of a "shop map" mod for ToEE, get it from the Co8 downloads section.
