Does that "two rings of regeneration" trick really work?

Someone who doesn't have an alternative way of casting Lesser Restoration, the only reason I continue to take a cleric with me when I don't play a Paladin myself.

Just to add something about regeneration items: when under the effects of "haste", a character equipped with any regeneration item will regain hp twice as fast.

"Rest until healed" doesn't seem to me to be necessarily against the P&P rules if you have a cleric in the party. I thought it was just shorthand for: 1) rest 8 hours with the cleric memorizing a bunch of healing spells; 2) cleric heals party; 3) cleric rests 8 hours and gets spells back. It would be a pain to do this manually, so it seems fine to me...

    @ Klorox:

Yes, I've tried it - You get 2 HP per round for 2 rings rather than just 1 HP per round for 1 ring.

    @ Bion

That is what it stands for, but if you do it manually you will see that if your party is severely injured, the cleric can't memorize enough healing on the first 8 hours rest to heal the party sufficiently without having to cast additional healing after the second 8 hours rest. That's why it's a little cheesy, but hey, it's the only cheese I use since there is no real time limit on the game so you aren't really cheating out on anything. From a game perspective, there is not much difference whether you rest 16 hours or 3 days. The only reason you'd not want to use this option is if you're a hardcore roleplayer. I'm more like a heavy roleplayer (considering character actions) with a touch of powergaming (concerning combat).
