You would think that the Republicans would know that they have no place in New York City.

    An instant classic.

An instant classic indeed, because you could leave up all the text and just replace any mentions of liberals with conservatives and exchange the video with one shot in the bible belt and, gosh, it'd work exactly the same! :shake:

I disagree. However, feel free to prove me wrong and find one.

Conservatives are just more tolerant to free speech and the open communication of ideas. Conservatives can expect to be shouted down, have pies thrown at them, and have their speaking engagements cancelled due to "controversy". Liberal speakers don't have the same sort of problems. IMHO of course

I agree with Tals point. If you had a gay rights parade in a rural town in the south, I feel confident (from having lived in the south) that you would see some pretty ugly responses.

I think the thing that makes that video interesting is that the left claims to be tolerant. However, this tolerance only seems to extend to those that agree with them. Witness the reaction from the left to Sarah Palin. Wouldn't the side that touts womens rights as a top priority want to celebrate a successful, powerful woman?

I find that the protestations of a lack of tolerance come from both sides and generally apply when someone is shouted down in a situation where there is clearly a lack of tolerance. So far so good. The problem is that the person complaining of the lack of tolerance is, fairly often, equally intolerant of others and fails to recognize that lack. "My point had merit and was ignored, but their point is just ridiculous and should not be considered." I am seeing that more an more in person, on the TV and on the internet and it is sad, because society as a whole does much better with more, not less, civility.

I respectfully have to disagree. While it is true there are plenty of people that make idiotic statments and IMO are flat out wrong, I never try to prevent people from speaking their minds or expressing their opinions. To me this doesn't have anything to do with tolerance, it is more about common decency and courtesy.

I actually was not making a specific statement about you, but a more general statement about the fact that I perceive that there are a lot more people crying about intolerance who are actually practicing their own intolerance.

:D I like New York a bit better after seeing this.
The republican videomaker here saw that he was being booed. It's not nice when you're surrounded by a group of people who strongly disagree with you. But assuming that their booing immediately translates in a desire to oppress and eradicate all other political viewpoints is a bit of a leap.
