Well, not all contenders feel that way. I think Ullrich felt like he owed it to Lance, because He did the same for him some time ago. I've heard interviews with other cyclers though, who said the they would have taken the opportunity to break away, since it was Armstrong's own fault.

In a way that's true, it's not very smart to stay that close on the right side of the road, so he brought it on himself. It says a lot about Ullrich as a human, that he decided NOT to take advantage of it.

Vinokourov was not well in the Tourmalet, shame :( , I would have loved to see him win this year. Now he's got virtually no chance to win the Tour. Only Ullrich could beat Armstrong, by making another amazing time this Saturday.

    GO TYLER GO!

So great that he got the stage win - too bad he couldn't hold his 5+ minute margin to jump over Mayo and Zubeldia, as well as Basso...

Too bad I could not watch this stage...
Congratulations to Hamilton :thumb: , he is a though guy if I ever saw one. Well deserved win and I hope he makes it to Paris.

Armstrong is going to win the trial today. No
question about that. Too bad, if Ullrich won it would be more exiting. Maybe next year.

Edit: Hmm, I was a bit off there. Ow well, he would have won the race if Ullrich hadn't fallen.

A 76 second lead for Lance which I gather will do it barring a disaster like a wreck etc.

As for Ullrich, always a brides maid...

Utterly amazing. What would have happened if Ullrich had ridden the course in the morning, instead of watching a videotape? The world will never know.

    And once again, GO TYLER!

It's over and Lance has done it officially now. As far as poor Ulrich, both riders had to ride in the storm so at least it came down to a fair challenge.

Given the difficulty Lance had this time I wonder if he'll ride again. I'm sure he'd like to break the record he just tied but if he feels there isn't a good chance he'll win maybe he'd prefer to bow out on top?

Edit - nevermind, just read another article where he says he'll ride next year.

I must admit, I was wrong. I was sure that Lance was toast when he wasn't able to get a big lead in the mountains.

I just hope he can tune out his wife's complaining so he can train for next years race.

My poor Vinokourov didn't do it as good as I hoped... :(

Cogratulations to Lance. Having won 5 Tours, he is now part of a very restricted club ;)
Poor Ullrich is also very close to getting a record of his own: most time second... sorry Jan, hope you will have better luck next year... and I tip my hat to your fair-play.

@ Daephon: third is not so bad, and at least he has already won another Tour this year :shake:
