    You are correct in all that you say,but, even though my conditions are hypothetical, I still would like to know if it has been done. I used a dual class swashbuckler level 5/fighter level 16 armed with Kundane +2: Sword of Quickness in the off hand and Adjatha the Drinker, Long Sword +2 in the main hand and I beat him down to near death and I couldn't take him on out no matter how hard I beat on him. So Jaheira hit him with the wand of the heavens and Imoen with a flame arrow finished him off. I have noticed that regenerating creaturs do not recover from fire damage as fast as they do from weapon damage.

    I never thought the tainted tadpoles did anything. I always assumed it was some unfinished quest that got left in the game. And besides (as someone already pointed out) he's usually engaging us in combat before we ever get access to the room where you can use the tadpoles.

    You can beat him down to death. Im not sure why your guy couldnt, quite possibly a bug.
