Kitchen Madness #3 - 8people's chilli

    So, after posting my last pathetic attempt at a chilli, 8people supplied me with a recipe that her Mum uses. I gave it a try last night.

    Recipe and Method
    I made a few small changes. Used three chillies (as they weren't very hot ones), no courgette (didn't have any in stock) and for the Passata I added the wrong can, and ended up putting a pottle of pizza tomato base in instead.

    Having got all the ingredients all prepared, I threw it all in a slow cooker and left it for 24 hours on low (6 would have worked fine - but the longer the better).

    The Result
    Yummmmmyyy!

    Slight burning around the side - maybe I should have mixed it at some stage during the cooking. Added a nice smokey taste to the dish, which mixed in surprisingly well with the chilli flavour.

    Next time I might put in a bit more ginger , a second can of Kidney beans (even if my flatmate hates them), another chilli and not burn it.

    First recipe I've used in a while that I think I'm going to cook again.

    My mother was very confused initially when I said a friend from NZ wanted to try it and insisted why I hadn't informed her I had guests staying in my flat :lol:

    Ha! Had to look up what Passata and courgettes were :) I don't think I've seen Passata here in the US and certainly haven't seen a recipe calling for it. And the Italian based word zucchini is used here instead of the French based word courgette.

    I'd never heard of Passata either. Thought it was some kind of fancy Pasta.
