I have the Platinum Edition of Neverwinter Nights 2, but I cannot install Mask of the Betrayer. An error code 5001 shows up telling me to shut down all other applications, but nothing else is open on my laptop. So far, I only have the first disc installed. I haven't installed any patches. I'm using a Dell Inspiron 15 (3000 Series) with Windows 10. What do I need to do?

I don't know about 10, but with Windows 8 and for some people Vista or 7, you might need to do the following:
    1. Run the installer as an administrator. Try this first if you did not already. Being logged in as an administrator might help. Not only do you log in as an admin, but right click on it and "run as administrator".
    2. Install NWN2 outside the \program files or \program files (x86) folder. Create something like C:/games and set the security permissions to allow all users to read & execute. Make sure the administrators group has "full control".
    3. Here I'm just guessing, but try running the installer in compatibility mode for Windows XP.
