How to change Windows language?

    Where can you change the language of windows? Just language, nothing else like time zones etc..

    I switched to English when I reinstalled the OS after formatting my HD. I would assume you'd have to reinstall it but I can't tell if there is an easier way.

    I know there must be, because to my amazement my grandpa managed to get a tech to change the language on his install from English to Slovene. I never thought that that's possible, but it must be, because everything I've installed on that box was still there as I've left it, only Windows (and all the Office programs) were changed to Slovene. I'd really like to know how that guy pulled that off.

    If you mean overall language in menus, help dialogs boxes etc., then it can be done by installing Windows XP Multilanguage pack, if it is Windows XP we are talking about.

    For Office it is the Office Multilanguage pack.

    In XP:

    Go into Control Panel (Classic View)
    Regional and Language Options > Advanced Tab

    It will not work with Unicode programs, but unless my eyes have gone completely, this will change menu items and dialogs, etc.. to the language you want - as close as I can think of what you want.

    If you don't have the "Regional and Language Options" item in you control panel, then a quick look on google may solve that problem...

    It will change menus (as in menu boxes) in programs, yes, but not the entire language of Windows itself. Or Office, for that matter.

    As I said: Windows XP Multilanguage pack for Windows XP, Windows 2000 Multilanguage Pack for Windows 2000 if anybody still runs that.

    For Office it is the Office Multilanguage pack.

    But it costs money.

    I am not aware of anything freeware doing that. But I wouldn't be surprised.
