How could arcane casters be better tanks than fighters

Web isn't a caster-only effect so it doesn't matter whether your tank or someone else casts it. Blur is a decent extender for Mirror Images, yes, I just rarely need to devote separate spell slots for it since Deep Gnomes cast it natively and you get it as a permanent effect once you get to HOF mode Kuldahar and buy the Dwarven Ogre belt.

Coin, I'm also an avid fan of making my spells last for extended periods of time. That's why one of my tanks always carries the Golden Heart of <CHARNAME> so that Haste no longer bottlenecks my progress during thrash mobs, and everything else has at least 5 rounds/level timers on them. Surprisingly enough, I'm seeing that keeping up Emotion: Hope with just two arcane casters poses the next bottleneck plateau, even if I try to be economical about my Stoneskin needs. :)

No, I don't normally consider touch spells or magic weapons because they override the weapon slot. Many weapons I use have passive abilities that are usually disabled by such spells.

I take Web as a later sorcerer pick, but I use a mod that allows Druid to cast it instead. My preferenve goes to Grease, because it still has effects if the save is made. And Druids have plenty other interference spells that are just as effective as Web.

Blur hadn't come up yet. There are enough Blur castings from items to make use of for big fights, but for most battles I neglect it just like MI.

Sir Rechet, consider a Bard for Emotion:Hope. They get it as level 3 spell I believe, so very effective synergy.
