Well, I know you can't get less than 1 HP per level because of the observable way an F/M/T's HPs rise. You get a fighter level, a mage level, and a thief level, and you'll gain 3 HP, instead of 2 (3 + 1 + 2 = 6 /3 = 2). Even when I gained fighter and mage together I still gained 2, rather than the 1 with a hanging 1/3 fraction that you might expect. The rest is simple math in how the computer rolls: evenly like a die.

RNGs (Random Number Generators) can screw this up a bit, though. Every once in a while you'll get a run of extremes to 'balance' other numbers that have randomly been occuring more often, attempting to give an even distribution. And sometimes you can just get plain unlucky; it happens.

But if it's really bothering you that much, just get a max HP tweak and you'll never have to worry about the rolls again.

I think your confusing druids and clerics here. Clerics level at 1500xp and 3000xp. Druids on the other hand hit level 2 at the exact same time fighters do - at 2000xp. Look it up if you don't believe me, or just start a bg game with a fighter/druid, and open the character sheet to see when their 2nd level kicks in.

Eventually fighter and druid levels diverge. For example fighter need 8,000 xp to reach level 4, whereas druids need only 7,500 xp. Druids and clerics however are divergent right from the get-go.

Ah, yes, you're correct. I'm afraid none of my recent parties have included Jaheira (an odd coincidence only, I do like her), and I wrote that just before heading to bed a little later than I wanted to. I really ought to refer more often to the books rather than relying on my memory when I'm tired. :heh:
